Heating conked just I was setting off for match yesterday. Got priorities right though and went to match.

    Can anyone help?

Boiler is a Ravenheat condensing fanned combi from B+Q HE 85 AAA (T) with a Ravenheat wireless gizmo to call for heat.

Green power indicator light was on and so was red overheat flame failure light which went off after putting knob to reset position. (but then came back on again).

Water pressure is / was OK so its not that!

Batteries changed in gizmo in case it was them. Gizmo calling for heat, but still no joy.

Mate had similar boiler and his circuit board went after 18 mths. Could this be same.

Not British Gas - our heating isn't working and he couldn't fix it. His advice was wear Christmas jumpers - well worth the 30 pound a month care package

    Are you serious

Makes more sense to put the money towards a new boiler

There is no flame. These are auto igniters that only ignite when certain conditions are met. You cannot see it anyway without taking the cover off.

Could be relay to fan or pcb. Best get gas safe engineer, explain which boiler it is as a lot won't have worked on Ravenheat.

does your home insurance included 'home assistance' cover? that might be an option, and will cover you if your boiler's packed in...

That's my problem, the gas safe engineer I use has not worked on Ravenheat and doesn't want to do trial and error and cost me money (as he is a friend).

British Gas one off repair, even though it says from £79 won't be.

Its £79 if fixed within 30mins, which unless it's simply 'user error' will take longer as they have to do all gas safe checks afterwards.

Then it jumps to £199 if fixed between 30 min and 2 hours. Above that and it's £399.

Our boiler packed in last month and all indications (error code) said it was replace fan. Which is a £130+ part so called em out. Job done in under 2 hours so £199 (fan replaced)

Now I've stuck it on the British gas homecare cover. £9 a month for boiler & controls.

Unless he has full diagnostics kit / knowledge of the specific boiler, he could assume its say PCB, replace that at £200 and it still not work. Being gas safe doesn't necessarily mean he's a boiler engineer.
