The second less so. Wiseman did a disappearing act for twenty minutes or so which Bolton exploited very well and scored an excellent goal through Danns. Once we regrouped, I thought we should have had a clear penalty. I felt there was a distinct lack of movement going forward during the last twenty minutes. I think Danny will have learnt a lot from this game about the players at his disposal, probably more so than the draw at Leeds. He's certainly got options available to him if he wants to alter the starting line up on Sunday.
Kev I agree with pretty much all of that !! I must have missed Wiseman being a good player when I didn1t come to Oakwell, because today he was none existent, although I think Ramage(?) was to blame as much for the goal. I think we were the best side easily in the first half, yet we didnt convert the chances !! I have just got back to the boat and I am still freezing !
Perhaps I ought to show how great a fan I am by being over critical over any player I dislike, like some do mate. I believe Wiseman has played well for most of the season, but today I thought he was poor. I'm just glad I saw the likes of Millar, Doyle, Glavin, Currie, Hignett & co. when I did. None of them would escape the barrage of criticism that's prevalent these days towards skilful players. If they don't run up and down a lot than they're ****, have no heart & are idle.
Agree with that summary, we could have been out of sight by half-time. I think the lesson is that teams like Bolton and Leeds who have a bit more quality will grind us down over 90 minutes and like today we have to try to win the first half, which might mean a more attack minded midfield. I'm surprised we offered as much as we did with Bobby/Daws/Perks, though Kennedy was a little more effective. So many balls going in the box with no-one near them, usually because O'Grady is stuck out on the left wing having created the chance. If the penalty claim was the Daws challenge, I was right in line behind it and would say it was the least convincing dive I've ever seen. Lucky not to be booked for it. The push on O'Grady 5 minutes later was more clear cut.
I am not having that Doyle NEVER had a bad game !!! Well at least not in my memory. I bloody loved that player ! He would have shone today in that midfield
Gi'Oer wi Thi, get behind em... tha not a reyt fan thee ayup mucker , how was your Christmas... Mine was fantastic..well apart from this aft... I was hoping for a point at least. But if we go down Kev then so be it... I still stand by me wanting Danny Wilson as our Manager for a long term stay. Even if we end up in league one for a few seasons like last time... I think long term he can do it again.
Their player took Dawson's legs away and was miles from the ball. I probably watch a different game to anyone else.
I feel sorry for Danny Wilson, we have a lot of substandard players for this division which responsibility lays with both previous regimes. However we have Jennings to return whom I believe will be a new player who seem demotivated in the past few months hence going out on loan. We require a new lb as Kennedy isn't cutting the cloth and also we need some pace up front with more creativity in midfield. I think we will see a minimum of 4 players in the next window
Wisey had clearly been urged to push on second half, but Dawson and Perkins were always in no mans land at that point which left Hassell alone. Bolton punished our idiocy. Only Steele denied them from taking the lead much much earlier. Wilson got it wrong today. Let's be honest.
He was skilful We don't want that sort at Oakwell. We want them to run, run, run and run again, tackle, run and, finally, run some more. Bugger this trying to open up a defence with a pass or a dribble.
you mean like me at Anfield that day tha buggered up wi the tickets run run run run.... still can't believe I gi thi my ticket and ran back for thine.
Re: He was skilful Which accounts for the fact that Perkins got Player of the Year !! We need a blend of players, some that are good at the dirty stuff and some that can create something out of nothing! relying on either style of player will get you bugger all over a season !
Re: Gi'Oer wi Thi, get behind em... tha not a reyt fan thee I had a great day, thank you. I ate, drank and was VERY merry. Personally, I think our turnround will not happen overnight. It may take us a few months. It may result in our relegation before things can be sorted out and the club starts moving forward again. I have no doubt some will be asking for Wilson to be sacked long before any of that happens.
Re: He was skilful No, it doesn't work like that. You're applying logic and common sense. We need players who are athletes, not skill.
Let's analyse the replay!! From where I was sat, he invited a challenge that never came, then did a bad Tom Daley right in front of the ref - who didn't have the heart to book him, it was that bad!!
so basically what tha sayin' is ... I am a Barnsley Legend... and should be given an appearance at half time in a game... have a picture on the wall in the East stand upper lounge, maybe a Bronze statue outside the box office... maybe rename Grove street to something that aptly describes my Olympian like body.... is that what yer were thinking matey... seriously I am touched.
