...the apparent lack of communication between Mellon and DW? They took up positions at opposite ends of the dugout and didn't seem to have much contact until the subs were made towards the end of the game. Am I reading too much into this?
Unless you sit right at the front of the west stand thats hard to even say. Flitcroft and Mellon stood apart and so did Flitcroft and Hill
Now then , is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing so are saying ? I wondered because it does not seem to have worked for either of those pairs you are using ?
i must say, i'm personally still quite cynical about mellon still being at the Club. but danny and the squad seem to be happy to have him, so what do I know?
I noticed too looking down from the West Stand. They came out together, but that was it. I was just thinking of posting as much. I think it is odd, Mellon is supposed to be advising on the squad til Danny settles in. I don't understand the club's loyalty to Mellon, it's obvious Danny had no say in the matter. I reckon it's Baz squeezing the wage bill, rather than pay Mickey off.
These were long term working relationships, Danny and Mickey is brand new. Danny's had Mickey put on him it's obvious, it also suggests DW's contract is til the end of the season. Gives the club an opportunity to clear them both out without compensating any further staff. It's economics, we're budgeting for league one again. Don't expect any January signings, if there are they will be frees and will mean moving players out first.
Grandfathertyke is very wise. For me, what it means is this. Micky was invaluable in giving Danny a handle on the squad and who plays where, etc. Two games in, Danny will by now have realised how defficient our squad is, and that major surgery is required if we are to do the 'great escape' again. Given that Micky thinks they are a talented bunch, Danny will now know that Micky isn't much of a judge, and may already be wondering how he can get Micky to step into the airlock ready for release into outer space. January is a [Jeff Stelling voice] "BIG, BIG" month for BFC. If Danny gets the backing to try and bring the squad up to Championship standard then we will know the club have ambitions beyond scraping survival every season. If we plod along with what we've got then we are doomed. The fallout from this will mean reduced ST sales, further savings required, and in all likelihood a downwards spiral. Appointing Danny was the first step - now we need to back him. If [as The Don claimed] relegation would cost us at least £3M, then better to spend the £3M now and ensure we still have a club going forward.
We don't have £3m to spend. It's lost revenue from next season. We can't spend what we don't have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
