1) Janine Dyer - by a country mile. 2) See below: Steele - KEEP Hassell - KEEP Kennedy - DITCH Ramage - Can't afford Cranie - KEEP Wiseman - DITCH Dawson - DITCH Perkins - DITCH Mellis - KEEP Etuhu - KEEP Cywka - KEEP O'Brien - DITCH McCourt - KEEP Scotland - DITCH Pederson - Can't afford O'Grady - DITCH Nyatanga - KEEP RNL - KEEP Digby - KEEP Rose - DITCH Jennings - DITCH Cofie - Who? Okay, I know - we'll have to keep most of those I've 'DITCHED', cause we can't afford replacements. But honestly and truly, it's deeply worrying that they're simply not good enough for this level - and in all honesty would probably cut little ice in League One. Worrying times! Let's just hope Danny can solve this and weave some magic to somehow upgrade this impoverished squad.
Vast majority simply not up to this League, Royston. Might as well face it. We've Hillcroft ( & the 'Board') to thank. Big question is: should Danny recruit for a desperate bid to do another 'great escape', or should he begin to assemble a side to get us out of League One?
I really do think JOB is an unsung hero. EVERY game he puts 110% in. And, he has quality. If he had a half decent bunch around him, we'd see that effort pay off even more.
For me, it's not just the effort he puts in ON the pitch, I'm certain he puts in loads off the pitch too (I know, the debate about training has been raging strongly around these parts). I feel he sees an area he can improve and actively tries to get better, I've seen him trying to emulate Paddy this season, and it's been working a little too (he's even admitted to doing that in his interviews). I certainly can't remember him doing the things he does this season this time last year. He also seems to care more than everyone else on the pitch too.. Everytime we get a goal/win a match O'Brien celebrates and looks over the moon, and if we miss a chance he looks devastated. Half of the time the others look like they couldn't care less.
I'd play JOB over Paddy any day. Of course, McCourt has bags of talent, just he doesn't have any effort unless he's taking on 6 players.
Whilst I admire O'Brien's positive attributes and he does seem to genuinely care about our club. He lacks any sort of real quality and is part of a cachet of players that hold us back by not having the ability to play at the level we are at. I would keep him because he will be a valuavle asset in League 1 if we stayed up it would be time to move on. I genuinely think it would boost his career to be paying league 1 or below who here he would shine.
I find it amazing the turn around some people have had in regards to the quality of the players. At the start of the season the general feeling was we had kept the key players whilst recruiting well. Mid table finish was all but guaranteed. Then we had the best squad since returning to the championship, but flitcroft wasn't getting the best out of them - he lost his job. 10 days ago we had with a small bit of tweeking a squad Danny Wilson would surely get up the table and assure us of safety Today after a lucky draw at Leeds and being hammered at home on Boxing Day we've to ditch pretty much the lot. Quite a swing in opinion.
