Are the Police in Barnsley trying to justify their Christmas Bonus ???

Against Bolton the Police allowed Bolton fans to occupy Bramahs and any sort of spark in there at the time could have resulted in the pub being smashed up.
Guys from Barnsley were starting to congregate around the Bolton fans and were getting ready to do something when the Bolton fans left the pub.

Against Derby the Police allowed Derby fans to get into Barnsley town centre after the match which resulted in police and police horses and three riot vans running about on Market Hill to stop a group of Barnsley fans getting into Bramahs.

Are the Police allowing this to happen so they can warrant the number of police on the streets during the Christmas period? That is to say so they can claim their Christmas wages?
Its absolutely crazy whats happened. And to my knowledge it hasn't happened during the rest of the year - only at Christmas.

 

Sounds to me like the Derby and Bolton fans can go for a friendly drink and not cause bother. Obviously not the case for Barnsley fans.

Yes there is, just that you choose not to believe it, and think they should be fighting all the time.

 

Football still baffles me... I watch many sports and all but football fans stand together and celebrate together... Yet some football fans blow a fuse if they get wind that an away fan sat in home end. I've seen it several times often jumping over seats and people to swing for them? Why? Often that fan has been sat quietly causing no trouble but yet the minority want to smash his face in...

In rugby, ice hockey, etc etc fans stand together...

That all depends upon how many brain cells they are working with. I've certainly had plenty of friendly drinks with opposition fans, both home and away.

It does make me laugh how one or two on here are seemingly obsessed with violence, when for years it was the scourge of the game. Thankfully it's not as prevalent nowadays, but there are still one or two dinosaurs who seem to want the return of fighting in the pubs and on the terraces. I think it's about time they grew up.

 

I'm sure at Fulham home and away fans sit together, Nudger would combust at the thought.

 

What did hack me off yesterday was the pub was 'rammed'(sorry) and family's were in there having meals etc I was in with my lad and the constant chanting in a family pub with constant swearing etc was not on at all.

No bouncers, no police in site! Went on from 12 til 230 when they left.

Time and a place and that was neither.

Another annoyance yesterday was the trains.

South Yorkshire police knew that Derby had sold 6K tickets and that they would be travelling on the Sheffield / Leeds line. Yet they decided to continue with a normal 2 carriage train, with trains going every hour. Net result was a load of Barnsley fans stood on the platform at Wombwell, who were not allowed on the train because it was full of Derby fans.

Pi55 poor organization.

 

Would have paid good money to watch Nudger shitting himself and running away from Bramhas last Thursday...

Agree with this. Couldn't get on train at Elsecar because it was rammed. Terrible organisation made worse by loads of Derby fans banging on train windows and chanting. Only made slightly better by going past them all standing outside train station unable to get on a train after the match whilst I was on the bus.

 

To say it was annoying, would be an understatement. I was going to Sheffield last night and just missed the 1712 train. All those people and there was no provision for additional trains. Next scheduled one due at 1740 which I waited for in station (most Derby fans on platform - and as I later found out queuing outside and on bridge over railway line). I doubt I'd have got on it actually but at 1740, it was announced that this train was running late. I went for the bus due at 1805 in the end - again, full of Derby fans trying to get home. Fking ***** organisation.
