It was so easy to sort though ... an additional train ... (straight to Derby if required) at about 1720. Think of the money that could have been made by the rail firms though.

Any football fan that wants to punch an innocent human being simply for supporting a different football team should be put up against a wall and shot. The world is better off without that type of scum.

Yes there is, why does having a drink have to result in trouble? I know some fans seem to think it's an obligation to drink and fight in the name of their club but for others having a beer and a bit of banter can remain friendly.

I don't know Jack (can I call you Jack?), I don't think there's anything like enough putting people up against walls and shooting them these days. Society has become far too tolerant. If people had in the back of their minds that there was a reasonable chance of them being put up against a wall and shot then they might think twice before behaving in an anti-social manner.

Edit: As an afterthought, when I suggest to people that I think that the royal family should be put up against a wall and shot they tend to either not believe me or to be aghast, which to me is an indication of just how far standards have fallen.

I like how you have done your best to point out to us that the away fans were not causing any trouble and that in all the situations you've highlighted it was the arsehole barnsley fans who were trying to cause a problem.

Thanks a lot lads, I appreciate the extra money I have to pay for my ticket, the tight controls around my movements and the lack of familes and future support for Barnsley FC from local kids. Keep up the good work, you're doing us all proud

All it takes is someone (just one) to have too much to drink - and opposing fans chanting and making themselves a nuisance and the result is trouble.
As Cunning Stunt pointed out - there's a time and place for opposing chanting fans and its not in a town centre pub after a match where innocent people are just out for a drink or a meal.

My point being - the Police prevent this from happening during the rest of the year - but at Christmas they seemed to have engineered potential problems.
The only reason I can see why they have done this is so they can justify their Christmas overtime !!!!!!

I think you are trying to tell us something nudge. Have you been a naughty boy?

For what it's worth I have worked 13 out of the last 20 Christmas / Boxing Days and worked many New Years whilst you get the chance to enjoy your family life or going out. I'd like to think that myself and my colleagues have made it a safer environment for you to do that.

Well what I am saying here is that your colleagues have definitely NOT made it a safer environment.......on the contrary.

As for working over Christmas and New Years Eve etc.......yep, I've done plenty of them.
I have had quite a few Christmas holidays when there's only been me and sometimes one or two others at the pit.
Single guy at the time so I let the married guys with children stay at home.
Spooky when there is only you on the pit top and even more spooky when there is only you walking about along miles of tunnels underground.

I've had plenty of Christmas diners consisting of roast potatoes and tins of baked beans cooked over an open fire.

The thing that yook the piss is how the police actually took them into Bramhas let them order a drink and then finish it

    Yes that's fair enough

But has been pointed out........the police march gangs of away fans into a town centre pub.........and when it kicks off between BOTH sets of supporters we end up with police with battons and police horses running up and down the street.
At one point the punters of Durty O'Dwyers started to get onto the street and a police horse backed into them to push them back.

So............why isn't away supporters put into town centre pubs on a regular basis......and not just for Christmas???
Questions need to be asked on police actions here.
In my experience the police usually guide away fans away from the town centre.

Lets see what happens when Leeds come to town.........lets see if the police march gangs of Leeds fans into town centre pubs.

    Common sense.

You have all the supporters in one place instead of scattered all over town

The reason it didn't was more down to the apathy of the barnsley fans in brammahs than anything else

The only people getting lairy were a number of derby county fans which started to cause a rise in tensions.

It was the Derbyshire plod football intelligence copper who was pointing out the number of derby fans known for a ruck which lead to the old bill corralling them up however, rather than just ****ing them straight off to the station let them stay and finish up which caused things to get a little more heated.

For me the coppers were trying to escalate things a bit to feel a few collars to hit their targets, it was a shambles.

Or maybe they knew the train service was cack so let them have a pint, rather than cause a nuisance at the train station.
