    It calls itself the front page of the internet. Basically, people share interesting links to things, or pictures. You can up or down vote people based on how interesting/funny or whatever you found their post, if you are registered. There's a LOT of in-jokes and memes, so the longer you spend on there the funnier everything is/seems to be.

    There's lots of different categories depending on what you are interested in, there really is something for absolutely everyone:

    Ones I class as 'normal' such as gaming, aww (cute pics), news, movies etc.
    Slightly weird such as wtf.
    The downright bizzare which I am not even going to list as they are THAT weird.

    It is an extremely funny site, and you can waste hours and hours on there learning all kinds of weird things (and visiting things you wish you had never clicked on, and would do anything to unsee - eyebleach is needed a lot at times http://www.eyebleach.com/ NSFW)

    Thanks, think I get it - basically if I'm registered the stuff I see will be more relevant to my interests?

    I just thought it was a weird site, guessing it's only been around a few years but it reminded me of what the internet looked like in 1997!

    No, you don't have to be registered, that's just so you can vote and comment. I'm not registered, but I've been going on it for ages now. You just click on the subreddit you want at the top, or put /aww or whatever subreddit you want. I normally just go on the 'front' and then 'hot' tab as that shows you the most popular posts across all the subreddits.

    It was made in 2005 according to wikipedia.
