I thought that before the Birmingham game, but I looked a right tit after the game when we ended up having loads of shots with 8 on target.
We will never score enough goals with a shot shy midfield and one up front, goals for column bears this out unfortunately
Agreed, I'd have Paddy in for Perkins and Pederson up front with Jimbo on the bench. Getting ready to look a tit again.......
Have a look at the stats from the Birmingham match mate. They show that we had more shots on target than in any game this season, so that blows your theory away ! It is the putting them away that we are missing.
IMO not playing 5 in midfield is what's killed our season. You've got to have some top quality centre midfielders to only play 4 in the modern game
That's one match though, I went against derby and Bolton and we were hardly peppering the oppositions goal so I stand by it. I can only comment on what I see pal.
We are not putting our chances away because they are falling to a midfield who are not natural goal scorers. You need strikers on the field to score goals.
We had 19 shots against Derby, although only 3 on target. We had 16 against Bolton, 8 on target. Similar to the record against Birmingham. We seem to have plenty of shots, and quite a few on target, but we just can't score.
I don't want an argument wy thy owd ****, what about the other forty odd games when they have played together and we've not scored many, I'm not wanting a pi$$ing contest wy yer just stating facts. One game doth mek a season oreight.
You know exactly what he's getting at though, Hassell, Dawson, Etuhu and Perkins perm 2 from 4 in the middle, not exactly goal crazy are they?
I don't like using shot stats as a measure, especially when they aren't on target. if you don't test the keeper it's just smoke and mirrors cos it could be a goal kick and go down on the stats as a shot. Bottom line is we need two strikers on to score goals cos most of our midfield can't or won't hit the preverbal barn door.
