Not a proper fan. Funnily enough I timed my visit here so as not to miss any home league matches. I booked it before the cup draw was made. So glad I didn't have to sit through that as listening on Barnsley Player was embarrassing enough.
Spot on. Norderstedt, just north of Hamburg. Lived here (on and off) since 2004 but still got a season ticket at Oakwell. Sad *******.
Nope, will either be in Dodeth or Austria on that date. What a choice that is! Spend about 3 months per year here, mostly in summer, but will gladly meet up for a beer if we overlap.
No worries. Any local recommendations? Beyond the Jolly Roger and the Millerntor, we don't really know where to go. Boho is our thing, so any suggestions would be good...
It's not really a passion. More an appreciation. I latched onto them about 5 yrs ago, and just like what they stand for. Heading over for my first game in Feb. Oh, and there's a brilliant Art Brut song, called St. Pauli
Never really go into Hamburg centre as we tend to stay around the local bars and restaurants in Norderstedt. It's about a 45 min trip on the tube from here to the centre, so that's an hour and a half including a trip back with complete knobheads on the tube late at night. The area around the harbour (Landungsbrücken) is supposed to be good and of course there is the famous Reeperbahn. A trip on a boat around the harbour or the lake (Alster) is also good but the commentary is in German. The Portuguese quarter (Portugiesenviertel) is great if you like seafood, Spanish and Portuguese. There's lots of nutters about in Hamburg if you wander into the wrong area but if you've been to St Pauli games you've already done that ha ha!
Ah good on you mate. Hope you have a good time. I have never seen St Pauli or their city neighbours Hamburg. I was in Berlin in the summer and went to Union Berlin to see United play a friendly also visited the Olympic Stadium but Hertha were not playing although I have seen them. German teams I have seen are Bayern Munich, Moenchengladbach (twice), Dynamo Dresden, Eintracht Frankfurt, Cologne, Duisburg, Werder Bremen, Union and Hertha Berlin.
He has skill, that he might display once a game - he is a luxury we simply can't afford on the off chance that he might dance his way through the defence every 5 games.
Thanks for that. Will check out Tripadvisor as well. We're only 10 mins from the Millerntor, on the doorstep from the Reeperbahn. Are lass will love it
Never been to a St Pauli game. This will be the first time. Went to the World Cup in Germany and loved it, and spent time in the Black Forest and Berlin. Love Germany, can't wait to go back. Their food's rank bad though
