... we would be better off going down. It may sound daft but it's probably the best way to freshen things up. Bring in new players, start using players who have come up from the academy, and more importantly get rid of the deadwood (fair to say that applies to nearly every player!).
better to stay up and freshen things up , lets give our young ones a go and the fringe players , cant be any worse than the 2nd half performance today
The last wage bill recorded was 7 mil, and id guess this seasons would be more..we'd lose 3 n half million TV money, and a drop in ST sales. Plus the players that are not out of contract, unless they get a better offer, wont be going any where. Also no John Stones to sell.. so where would the money come from to make any decent fist of it to return?... So mate if you think we will be better off going down..I strongly suggest you have a bit of a rethink ..
The wage bill will be much smaller if we went down, as there are much less clubs in League One with rich owners as there are in the Championship. So Cryne will not have to dig into his pocket as deep as he has done in the past. I can't argue about losing the TV money, but the drop in season ticket sales and attendances won't be as bad as everyone else expects it to be. The club is going to go nowhere if we're going to finish fourth bottom for the next x seasons. Every year everyone has the fresh start mentality in pre-season, and almost everytime it ends up in disappointment. Financially going down will not put the club in jeopardy. If I'm right we are not insecure with money (even though we don't have a lot of it). And maybe League One is probably the level Barnsley are better off in - it would be a welcome change from seeing us shipping in five every other week to ex-Premier League teams with the privilege of the parachute payments.
No guarantees that going down would equal being a stronger team in L1. I doubt we'd be back at this level for a long time
We are at a very low point..so why/how could it be better to sink lower?...what we are better doing is making this the lowest point where we are now, and move up from here..
It really wouldn't. We'd go down & end up with crowds like the one we got today meaning we'd have a budget similar to your average league one clubs. We'd lose our better players (Cranie, Mellis, O'Grady, Steele etc) for next to nothing & players of the ability of Tom Kennedy would be the norm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
