Etuhu is no better ( or worse ) than the rest of that shower of a midfield. We really need to start looking to the youth team if we are going to stand a chance of staying in this division.
I think it's a case of some folk genuinely querying (for example) player selection, injuries notwithstanding, and others who are criticising him simply because they didn't want him in the first place. They had no intention of allowing him a honeymoon, or settling in, period. The current home form & results feed that dislike. Personally, I'm glad he's the manager and, provided he's given the tools by the club & allowed the time to do the job, I have faith in him to move the club forward.
I know we are in trouble if Danny cannot see how fookin useless tom kennedy is as a footballer, let alone a left back! Must be going doolally in his advancing years! :nails:
Well I don't think anyone is having a dig at Danny Joey. Reading the posts I think there's been plenty of genuine, informed, thoughtful and constructive criticism/ discussion. It's interesting to read people's thoughts.Putting forward alternative views on team selection and formation doesn't translate into knocking Danny In fact what we all appear to agree on is that he has been left a right mess by the Rochdale connection and that he has a major job on his hands with next to no time to do it in. I think we all agree he is the man for the job too...
I am extremely happy that Danny Wilson is the manager - I feel that we are now in good hands and can see a more positive future. However, that does not mean that all is rosy in the garden all of a sudden and we are going to suffer more bad days like yesterday, although hopefully not many that are as as extrordinarily bad as that was. Danny is not some miracle worker who is going to suddenly fix all the problems that this squad has - it is going to take time to work out who is not fit to wear a shirt and get rid of them, and replace them with better. In the meantime, he has to put a side out every time we have another game, picking from the dross we have. And, as a manager, he is of course not immune to making mistakes, like any body else would, but that does not mean that he can be judged on the 19 days he has had so far with someone's else shower of ****, and those that are doing so are being utterly ridiculous. We have to be confident that we have the right man for the job, and I for one am confident that we have. We MUST have a long term plan to allow him the time to rebuild and rebuild properly. It is not in our interests to continue to seek short term gratification out of one win here or one good performance there, and to judge on such short term measures. Mistakes will be made along the way, but this is now a long term project to get us back on our feet. In my opinion, those that are criticising Danny Wilson after half a month in the job are not doing the club any favours at all. I have all but accepted that we will go down this season - I just can't see any other outcome with the current squad of players we have. Any other outcome would be just amazing. But I maintain, as I suggested in a thread a few days ago, that he would still be the right man for the job in my opinion if we were down by Easter. I just wish some others could sit back and see the longer term picture as well.
Why is Wilson allowed a few years to sort a team out, yet most other managers are allowed 6 months before people are baying for blood. I agree about Wiseman though, two bad games out of what has been a half decent season for him
Because like it or not the last two managers have put us in this mess. They have been signing lower league players fair enough 1 maybe 2 have come good. Wilson needs to get shut of most of that team. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
It remains to be seen whether he will be allowed that time. What most of us realise though is that someone has to be allowed the time to rebuild this squad because swapping managers every year has got us nowhere has it. The reason why Wilson may be allowed that time is because it is hopefully recognised that we are not dealing with an unknown quantity. Wilson has a track record of getting it right, if given the chance. We could for example have stuck with Flicker for the same length of time and all it may have proved is that he is no better a manager than I am.
Left with a bad squad, but terrible decisions from 2pm-5pm yesterday from a so called 'experienced manager' and assistant!!!
He's not a so called experienced manager. He IS an experienced manager and he's been at our club less than three weeks.
I'm not going to start getting on at Danny like some, but yesterday was awful tactics/decisions with subs etc. Not even trying something when everyone could see what was coming for the entire 2nd half, I could anyway!!
So why did you make the comment 'so called experienced manager'? I didn't like the team selection, tactics, performance or result, either. But I'll leave the sneering comments of Danny Wilson to others.
Spot on- Danny failed to presshome our advantage yesterday when we were on top and seemingly sat back and watch Coventry up their anti and make the necessary changes to tactics and personnel. granted had Tommy's free-kick gone in it could've oh so different, but it didn't. Their goal was coming and you just knew that when it did only one team was likely to win and it wasn't us. Although Danny may not have had many defensive options he could've changed us into a more effective attacking unit. The tiring O'Brien could've been replaced by Jennings and Scotland/Pederson to partner O'Grady. Instead he initially went like for like with Pederson for COG. Sorry but Danny has to carry his share of the blame for THIS defeat.
Because any manager with experience could and should have seen what was happening and at least 'tried' to change things around a bit in that last 30 mins before it got to late....when we still had a 1v0 lead!!
He made two substitutions prior to Coventry's equaliser. As I said earlier, I didn't like the team selection, formation or performance. But I accept not everything is not going to alter immediately and certainly not after less than three weeks.
Like it or not, Wilson is going to have to look in the lower leagues to sign players too. The only other alternative is journeymen from the premier league on loan and quite frankly, we've not had many good ones of them recently.
The first one made things worse, as Peds is a worse striker (playing on his own) than COG, they needed to be put together at 1v0 with a chance for us to get back on top! Scotland came on seconds before they scored, I don't think we touched the ball once he came on before the goal!
