you've only seen nyatanga once? I bet i've seen him play football more times than danny wilson has to be fair
Thanks for that Whitey. Sad if that's the case, I was kind of clinging on to something else in the hope that all of this was just a bad dream!
I suppose not, but recently we could have picked the team out of a hat and we'd probably have picked up more points.
Which makes the decision to keep the assistant to the assistant for his knowledge of the players even more stupid
Maybe 'necessary' was the wrong word. When he was appointed, Wilson did say that keeping Mellon on was helpful due to his knowledge of the current squad. I don't think it's totally out of the question that Wilson actually wants Mellon here, for now.
I've seen him a lot more than the one occasion I referred to, yes. But I feel it's only fair to judge him as a current player, and not on his exploits for us some 5 years ago or whatever. And against Leeds he was terrific. Everything you'd want from a centre half playing left back. He rarely got forward, instead concentrating on pretty much making it a three at the back when we were defending. But his technique was as good as Cranie's, and despite him cramping up I fully expected him to be our regular left back until we could possibly recruit a more forward thinking one in the January window. However, he wasn't fit to start against Bolton and Danny Wilson was impressed enough with Tom Kennedy to continue to select him since.
I thought he was ok that day. Gave him 6/10 in my report. But I concur. It's indeed quite worrying that Danny rates him above Nyatanga. I just hope he doesn't rate him so much that he feels no need to recruit another left back.
