S.T. Holder Evening With Danny Wilson - More from the official site... 05-01-2014 02:00 PM
So if I walk into the box office and book a ticket taking up an employee's time, requiring valuable office space, holding up other fans, costing the club money in heating and lighting then it's free but if I phone them up saving them all this money AND actually making the club money by using their premium rate number then it'll cost me £3? that makes about as much sense as keeping mellon and playing kennedy
When you phone that number, does an employee answer? I've never tried it, but if it does, then all the things you listed above still apply. No idea why it costs £3 still though.
The employee one counts however the heating lighting and space costs don't as an employee on a phone doesn't take up anywhere near as much space or lighting as a box office with queuing area or as much heating as me walking in and opening a door etc I know the costs are minimal but they're still there and yet those without the costs are the ones footing the bill for those with them
Isn't the employee answering the phone the same person sitting in the box office? (Genuine question, I don't know).
I assume so but theyre only sitting there to serve those who turn up otherwise they could be in the office with significantly lower costs
Maybe they just don't want people phoning the club? I imagine the switch boards were rather busy last time and continued to be so even after all tickets had gone. Just a guess like.
A business who's job is to sell things not wanting customers to phone them on the premium rate number which they make money from is a bit odd though isn't it. If the same people instead all turned up in front of the box office they'd have exactly the same problem except it would be costing them more money in heating from the door being constantly open rather than raking money in from the phone line. It's all just a bit odd, people should pay the same for things whether they turn up or phone up
No not really. If 2000 people phone the club over the next 4 days then the club have to deal with each and everyone but only have 190 places available If most of these people either go online to either buy a ticket or see it has sold out it will save the club answering fewer unnecessary calls. The box office can also show a big sign saying tickets sold out. Does this help you understand?
the website can display a message and the recorded message on the phoneline could say they were sold out and people wouldn't see the sign at the box office till they'd made the journey Like I said I just dislike the idea of fleecing people who phone just because they can even though the costs involved are less.
