Not without fault or blame and should not be held in too much of an holier than thou position. I am eternally grateful for him taking the club off Doyle and I will stand to be corrected on some of the following.

My understanding of the situation around administration was that Cryne could have come in earlier than he did. We ended up with Doyle saving the club initially but with ulterior motives (selling off land etc). Cryne then bought the club but probably paying far more than he would have if he had come in from the start - he wasn't braying the door down to step in initially as he wanted the cheapest price (open to speculation).

The court case and health problems have taken priority (rightly so) but at the detriment of the club. We went for FFP way too early (speculation again but club told to self fund rather than Cryne putting more money in - FFP rules convenient excuse to deflect from this?). We have been left with "cheap option" players that are not good enough at this level - not their fault necessarily as it is a big step up to the Championship.

The club as a whole is "down at heel" in the way it deals with things but wants to grab every cent off the fans that attend - back to the self funding issues. I feel it really is time for Cryne to hand over the reins but I have no idea who would take us on. If Danny gets a war chest to fund the transfer window then I take back everything I have said as this means there is still interest from those at the top table.

Who on Earth would take over Barnsley? We are punching above our weight and have such poor potential in terms of fanbase due to the size of our town

Personally I'm extremely grateful Cryne came in at all as I really think we'd be out of business without him

Blackburn rovers, Blackpool, burnley, all sides with similar fan bases and catchments as barnsley, they've not done too bad in the past, just saying...

Blackburn..owned by Indian chicken farmers £54.5m debt operating loss £36m
Blackpool..solvent due to it's premier league season..but with a shoestring budget largely due to the chairman paying £23m to himself and his fathers companies
    Burnley...£8m operating loss

Blackburn weren't alas like that though, same for the others.
We will be operating at a few million in losses when we go down anyhow and be in the lge one wilderness for Christ knows how long this time. I'm not saying break the bank but you cannot run a championship club like arkwrights shop in open all hours, and I'll wager you can't do it in lge one either.
Anyways, the original point was who on earth would take over barnsley with our fanbase and I merely pointed out other clubs of similar size and catchment to ourselves who found investment. What has happened subsequently to these clubs is immaterial to my original response. The point being, those clubs found investment and it wasn't all bad initially. Life is about change and there's been change at the clubs mentioned but there's been change at our club over the years an'all.

Blackburn were fortunate though to have a particularly wealthy owner and get into the new Premier League on the ground floor,as for Arkwrights shop,I don't think PC can be genuinely accused of that...Don Rowing made it just appear that way. the lost revenue in relegation, thats a problem nearly all relegated teams have,it's happened often enough to us before...certainly is worrying though, but to say don't break the bank is not an easy thing to achieve when virtually all the clubs above us are in debt or situations of operating losses...where would you draw the line...£2m loss,£5m?
I don't have any answers..but the threat of serious debt again could see us back to where we were before Cryne saved the Club

Pat Cryne has done a good job in saving the club and keeping us in this division for so long

But we need new owners if we are to move onwards and upwards.........and PC would probably be the first to admit that

I'm hoping that Maurice will attract new owners or investment into the club

A know, it's like some fans want us to be "little owd barnsley" with hardly any fans and be perceived as a laughing stock who shouldn't be competing at this level. When in reality when we do well we get a decent fan base and as we have spent far more time at this level than any other club in the football league, this is where we belong, not fookin lge one. I just wish the owners/board shared this same philosophy.

Sorry if I've misunderstood and you were being sarcastic...Bolton's debt is currently £163 m
Wigans was £72m in 2012...I'm not sure of the current figure

I repeat, not always like that. So you'd be happy for barnsley to be hoofing around the lower leagues for the rest of your puff then would you? I think I know what point your trying to make but it doesn't automatically follow that you get up to your eyes in debt if investment is found.

Anyway, you're missing my point about the size and catchment of our club as I posted not so long ago.
