Nar then. Getting married to an Irish girl which means there's approx 4k coming over on the ferry for the day. We've two options: 1. Wentworth Castle and piss off the majority because it's not big enough. 2. Church then hire a place Any ideas of anywhere round here with decent sized rooms available to hire? Ideally don't want to go down the hotel route but it's looking like that's our only option (and even the majority of them don't hold enough for what we'll need - about 200). Cheers and that.
Don't go to the Holiday Inn in Dodworth it's a vile place, unless you like blue mould on your sandwiches. Fairway conference centre holds just about 200 and is not bad. Have you thought of hiring a marquee and putting it up in someone's back garden? Or in the car park behind the East Stand at Oakwell?
We're looking at a marquee mate, hopefully at Wentworth but just looking at other options. And agree about Holiday Inn - not on the list. Neither is Oakwell unfortunately but it's definitely been 'discussed' (aka put forward by me and rejected by her)
Yeah, think Wentworth Woodhouse are nowadays. Wish they had been when we got married, what with the wife being a Wentworth lass. Spectacular setting
Aye, it's quality. But there's no indoor space - only marquee on the lawn. And my f.ckers will end up digging for Gold in't corner or summat.
Gotta be Wentworth Woodhouse, Dyson? A superb setting, lots of history, locality......couple of pubs within village for pre and post wedding refreshments. Our Day was Wombwell Church and then Ardsley House (when it was a good hotel, nice gardens, etc). A couple of Brandy's in the Alma, just before service, you know, just to settle the stomach.
