We miss him when he doesn't play. Right back, sweeper, centre half, midfield, we miss him. The first season we totally ignore him we have the worst start by a country mile. He comes back in, and bosses a game unfit, helps us to a clean sheet. It saddens me that I had to read so many posts over the last couple of years on here writing him off suggesting his legs had gone etc. I was told on many occasions to get my head out of his arse, that I was wearing ginger tinted specs etc etc. Folk told me regularly that Cranie, Kennedy, Wiseman and Ramage were all better defenders. Someone even suggested a game in pre season proved he was past it. They forgot the other game in pre season where he bent one like Beckham. You know why I am still believing we'll stay up? Main reason is Danny. But knowing Bobby will play when available is such a boost. A guaranteed 7/10 performer. Often more. Never shy in a tackle, wins most of his aerial duels, can pass forwards with either foot, tons of experience and the one player I know who plays for the shirt. An absolute legend. An honour to watch him the last ten years. Sir Bob indeed.
I still haven't got over your twitter conversation with my missus before Xmas. Breast feeding. Long lost son. Your son being David Perkins. You should write for a **** fanzine.
I believe he's 2nd to only Cranie when it comes to ranking our defenders & in 2 games after an 8 month absence has shown himself to be our best holding midfielder. As far as I'm concerned every time he's fit he should be sat in front of the back 4. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
She's lovely, by the way. Much too good for you, obviously. She'll blow you out when she has the operation on her eyes. I had a nice chat with Sir Bobby over Christmas. He's a top bloke, although I did compare him using the Bible as evidence of God to the Mr Men books being evidence for Mr Tickle. I'm not writing for WSB anymore. Finally been paid (a night with Dysons Missus) and wasn't exactly impressed.
Hasn't this been done to death now? Yes Bobby is good and should have been playing, and yes he's been a great servant etc - but he's not Vidic! Cranie is a better defender than him (and I think Ramage will come good too) but gets no such worship. I love Bobby, but he's not going to single handedly save our season. Why the unwarranted praise threads for him every few days even when he hasn't been playing?
Not really. He'd get torn apart now, at full back. He's found his spiritual home, in front of the centre halves.
Says the man who's named after an average at best ex-Barnsley player, now serving his time at Bury Don't dis' the Hass!
It`s all down to Hemsie and Tyrone really the pendulum has swung away from their view on the extremometer.
Great post. His two recent appearances brought more new life into the team than a whole bunch of journeymen on loan will ever do. In my opinion we are down, out & on the canvas, but if we play that guy in 80% of the matches & Danny gets lucky with one or two loan players there may be another great escape.
Cheers DJ Peachy. That was my point - with Sir Bob of all seasons back in the fold our survival chances increase. Just a shame the last pillock never clicked on.
