Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front I take you don't read the guardian t'owd man?
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front Of course it was made for ratings, but as for "carrying out the Tories' agenda", that's just The Guardian being The Guardian.
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit The discussion wasn't about Channel 4 news, it was about a Ch 4 documentary. Yes I occasionally watch Ch 4 news, they cover different subjects and from a different angle. Yes, they lean left, Sky News lean to the right so not really sure as to your point. We've been through the BBC one before and I don't accept they are left wing, they are pretty even handed. Glad you brought them up though because last night they showed the correct way to go about doing a documentary on a subject like this with their programme "The Truth About Immigration" which was well balanced. As for "Benefits Street" - even the right-wing Daily Mail are reporting it was a stitch up! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-accuse-Channel-4-manipulative-stitch-up.html
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit You only think the BBC is unbalanced because they are reflecting your own views, if you weren't left-wing yourself you would notice it. The only things I would say they are not left-wing on are the Royal Family, and, only in recent years, supporting British troops.
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit The daily fail article doesn't say it's a stitch up... The 'stars' of the show do.
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit No, that's where you are wrong. I think they are balanced because they don't always reflect my views...that documentary last night for example that I said I thought was balanced, it was about 50:50 what I agreed with and what I disagreed with. The fact that both parties complain about the coverage from them.
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit Only a right winger would even think the BBC is left wing. Just shows how far right wing this generations become to suggest the BBC is left wing
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit Once again the media have done a fantastic job in make people on benefits look like the people who are the at centre of this mess we are in - getting ordinary folk to turn on each other while the rich upper classes are still getting away with it. Businesses still not paying tthe heir corporate taxes - billions lost each year which could help people who really need it. Benefit fraud? This is coming from a group of people who get everything paid in expenses while still getting a massive pay rise. God love the Tory Party!
Re: Dek - I'm not a facist - far from it - just saying out loud what the vast majorit And their working Class wannabees
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front No I don't, in fact I don't read any papers, all *****, sorry, now and again my son brings me the "i", which aint too bad. I take it that what I thought was a good post is in fact a cut and paste, doesn't make it any less relevant though. If that kind of reporting is typical of the Guardian then I might start to buy it.
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front You dont have to buy it first t'owd man, you can read it online, sorry but I dont know how to put a link on to it but if you google Guardian Online you will get there
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front I said they WERE, past tense.
As I said, I would not like to hazard a guess as to the percentage these make-up of the unemployed. I would think (hope) it's very small but to my mind even it's 1% then it's still too much. As I said these people are not victims. They might have been brought up to be this way but that's the fault or choice of their parents - not of society.
You should thank your lucky stars you were brought up to be well behaved and to know different and also to have a decent chance in life. You might have been one of them. Try imagining, for one moment that you had none of that influence. These people might be alienated from society, but they haven’t live in a vacuum whereby the results of economic and social policy over many years has no effect on them.
The bankers argument is bonkers but it's not relevant. It's a massive problem but has no bearing on the lifestyle choices of these characters. The massive amounts of money squirreled away in tax havens and bank accounts could have been used to raise the quality of life for people in this country. It could have been invested in better housing, education, social projects, hospitals, early learning, support groups etc… etc.. So to claim that this would have no effect seems to suggest you think these people are just beneath the rest of us, that they are somehow genetically inferior and that “even if it’s 1% then it's still too much”. It’s a shame you don’t spend more time decying the parasitical rich than the small ‘parasitical poor’.
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front apols, i messed up all the quotes above and now cant edit it.
Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front Correct WOTS and whats more.. we are a lot closer to the urchins on the street than we will ever be to the rich and righteous.. unless you win the lottery you will never be close to experiencing their life style..Look back on history it will show you clearly why we are here now..we the plebs and surfs are of NO use to them.... They only taught us to read and write so that we could follow thier orders to make their money for them..WAKE UP you people ...in the words of the song there are NON as blind as those who will not see.. Re: Benefits street on ch 4 now - wither zombie coma or send them to afghan on front It’s the ‘dream’ that’s pushed from all angles, that you too can be like ‘them’ if you just work hard and that being filthy rich with no concern for others is an aspiration! It’s telling to note that although people are critical of the super-rich in general, they are manipulated into saving their anger for the poor. “Yes the rich avoid taxes, BUT what really gets my goat is that Brummy who hasn’t got a job”. You never hear those same people who call for these people to be ‘exterminated’ saying the same about the rich, do you? (Not that they should, just an acute observation)
