    The difference of course is that
    David Beckham chose to marry a Spice girl
    Ronnie Savage chose to wear a pony tail
    Paddy Kenny did have a wife who messed about
    Mel sterling was fat

    Graham Le Saux was a married man, with young kids, being made out to be gay, by dim witted footballers making a homophobic joke that was never even funny first time round.That could have been damaging to his family. In that environment, it's akin to accusing someone of shagging about. It's giving people a reputation for something which is based on nothing. Because of what? Banter? It was targeting one person with something factually incorrect to amuse. It was poking fun at gay people, and it was bullying Le Saux and his family. It was done in full knowledge that crowds up and down the country would make his life a misery.

    That is not banter, it's horrible. Jokes within the dressing room are fine. Jokes that affect peoples day to day lives and their families are not.

    What I'm saying is Le Saux admits he could and should have handled the situation better. That's what he says in his own article.

    It doesn't need a rocket scientist to work out what stick he would get .

    Or maybe footballers need to change their pathetic macho behaviour?

    As I've said earlier in the thread, if I had a gay son, I would advise him not to reveal it to a bunch of footballers for the very reasons you have suggested. Which equates to footballers (in a group)being a bunch of horrible ill-educated bigots.

    The problem is, Le Saux was not a stereotypical footballer.

    This made him stand out........this made him ripe for pi55 taking.

    It's not right, I know.......but I don't believe this is purely a homophobic issue, it's linked to day-to-day pi55 taking that got out of hand, on a few occasions.

    if thats what he was doing at 21 its no wonder he got the pi55 took out of him

    what he should have done was a get himself a dog,done a bit of rabbiting then got out to the boozer for a few pints with his team mates.

    mind you he did have a funny shaped gob.

    I know they don't care now. But when they're washed up, minus a salary, minus their trophy wives cos the money has dried up, and minus their buddies, they'll be moaning about being depressed or something.
