I'd personally like to thank them for what they've done this week. Obviously, neither of them are part of Danny's plans. However, they'll both be on very decent contracts here, better than they'll be able to get elsewhere. The majority of footballers would have stayed, pocketing the wage without much chance of getting a game and without really caring whether they did or they didn't. It's entirely possible we may still have such players at the club, who were offered a similar deal to these two but didn't take it. I don't know what severance package we have offered them, but I can't imagine for a minute we will have simply paid up their contracts. There would be no point, if we're going to pay them the full contract they may as well stay here, so at least we have options if we suffer an injury crisis. They've left to further their careers, to play football, not inflate their bank accounts. Good on 'em. Apologies for another thread on the subject, but although I could see plenty about each individual player, I couldn't find one about both.
I wouldn't get too misty eyed about them mate. I doubt their first thoughts when they were told they were not needed were "ok fine, and don't worry about the money until the end of my contract, just give us what you can afford". they'll have got a good payoff, or they wouldn't have gone.
I dunno mate, if they thought they could get lined up somewhere else they may not have taken much. There is some decent folk out there. I might be wrong, but not necessarily. Jason Scotland told Mick McCarthy that if he was in his plans he'd be happy to stay, but if not would he mind if he went to play for Barnsley. No severance package, no pay off, he just wanted to play football. I heard an interview with Mick where he said just that. He also said that he thought he'd got it wrong after Scotland started banging them in when he first came here.
Didn't know that, good to hear. Makes a nice change from the shenanigans of Rooney and co and their agents.
Jason Jason would probably be a bit different though, due to his age, and all the big money he would have already earned in his career. Wiseman and Dagnall have plenty of years of football left, and will not have Jason Jason's wealth. A few months in the reserves or out on loan would not be too tough for them to still be paid full whack. They will have been properly compensated to leave, pretty much knowing what sort of money they will be likely to get in League 1 to which they will be no doubt heading. It won't be the full contract, but I bet it's over 50% of it that we will have paid.
I bet a lot of our players salaries are topped up with appearance fees as well though, so for someone maybe earning £4000 a week that might be what they earn whilst playing. I could be talking rubbish as usual but the impression I got from the Rick Holden autobiography is, at least at that time, appearance fees made up a large proportion of a players salary.
Agree with that. Dagnall in particular played a huge role last year in terms of helping the pressing game we played. Non stop chasing and chipped in with a few goals.
True, as well as he should. He did have an excellent 2nd half of last season. Shame he couldn't replicate it this.
I wish them both all the best for the future because they always gave there all for the club. I believe that both are league one standard players & hope they do well in that division Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I imagine it'd have been fairly straightforward in Wiseman's case, given that the PNE move was clearly in the pipeline. We agree not to ask for a fee for him. Everyone wins, and he probably gets more money from PNE because they don't pay a fee. Good luck to both of them. Whatever limitations they had, they both always gave 100% when playing. There's many BFC players who can't claim the same thing.
Well I'm glad we are getting rid of more of the Rochdale connection. Hopefully more to come. But yes, good luck to em. Dagnall never ever gave less than 100% and that should be respected. He won't have a problem finding another club..
