Taking a lass for a drink tomorrow and need somewhere that will give the right impression!

Old No.7 (as much as I like it) would probably NOT give the right impression... just to give you some guidance :)

    Also, must do food!

Is the grill still open upstairs on blah, blah? Latinos, romano's or Pinocchios is ok. Also heard a new Italian has opened where lucorum was or is.

White Bear did decent food last time I was in a while ago.

Oh and if anyone sees this, an unknown new discovery to me is the Rob Royd Restaurant in Worsborough. Pricy but for one of his restaurants it's a good deal.

Can't go wrong around Barnsley on a Satdi neet..........start at Market Hill pubs such as Blah Blah
Don't do No 7 cos that's for real ale drinkers like myself and not really suitable for women on a Satdi Neet.........although its ok during daylight hours

Then after Market hill just head for Peel Square and bars towards town end
She will be impressed..........but if she isn't there are always other girls out there that will shag you

As for summert to eat......there int owt.........if she has owt about her she will appreciate calling at chip ole ont way home

    Exactly, Nudger!

My first date with my now wife of twenty odd years was a few pints round town (yes she drinks pints) then shared a bag of chips while I walked her home. What a gentleman I was.....

    Memories .....

Worst meal I have had in my life at the Sovereign, would never dream of eating there ever again, most of the others Jay mentioned i would concur with, Golden **** at Farnley Tyas is very good if not a bit far from Barnsley and owned by a BBS poster.

Very surprised at that. We go quite often. I know it's a chain pub, so not quite on same level as the others, but we've always had really nice food there and the service is excellent. I've recommended it a few times on here, so I feel like apologising to you as you had a bad experience, which is odd as it's not my pub, but you sort of get attached to places.

Jay, it was terrible, liver was raw along with many other problems, the didn't charge us a penny for the food or the drinks, my 8 year old still refers to the Sovereign every time we eat out, we all laugh about it now. The pub is nice enough. The Toad & Tatie at Holmfirth is very good and always enjoy Mezze in Holmfirth too.

Why is No 7 unsuitable for women on a Saturday night?

Suppose it depends how old you are - over 30 I wouldn't bother with the town centre. Holmfirth has a good atmosphere on a Saturday night, just a bit pricey with taxis.
