I have just been sent this article and I am so stunned that I had to write something. I cannot believe that we are walking towards a society where this happens without complaint. Read this article and fear for your tomorrows. As some one who is already viewed as a drain on society I can tell you now that this is how the final solution of the Nazi's started. with doctors making judgements on who was "useful" to society. If you do nothing now then it won't be long before anyone who does not conform to the norm is deemed not fit to part of society. I am so freaked out by this, by the fact that our government thinks it can get away with it and by the fact that we aren't out on the street fighting to the future of this country. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...uld-see-elderly-denied-treatment-9050297.html
The NHS is ****ed and need reforming along French/ German lines but the problem is (mainly due to the left) it has become a sacred cow beyond all criticism and very weirdly, over the years the worse it's got the more popular it's become, I can't see any proper health reform coming in until the NHS is bankrupt whichg won't be that long I don't think, possibly in 20 years, certainly by 50.
when you consider that the population is ageing, it's hardly a vote winner.. Not sure how the daily mail will dress that one up
Whllst it reflects a general trend in society to deem everything worthy or not based on an economic number it would be political suicide whichever government backed these proposals. Its the elderly that vote, that's why the Condems have "tripple locked" state pensions while taking money from everyone else.
It would be appalling if it was true. My bet is it's not true. More fabricated ***** from journalists; they are as bad, if not worse, than the politicians they write about.
Nhs does a fantastic job despite the parasites on the right trying to privatise it - would be a big earner for big buisnesses
The majority of all the flaws in the NHS can be traced back to trying to turn it in to, and run it as, a business
Too many old people, too many obese heavy drinking smokers, and too many health tourists. The NHS can't cope and we can't afford the best for everyone. A nasty, but nonetheless accurate evaluation.
The main issues with the NHS stem from the back door privatisation of the NHS they has gone on since Thatcher and her buddies who are politically opposed to the principle of free health care attempted to dismantle it without telling anyone. This led to massive increase in bureaucracy and downgrade in standards. The best method of sorting out would be end all the privatisation and put the funding back into guesthouse care not bureaucracy. People who criticise the NHS have probably not spent time in countries without the safeguards. It is one of the things we as a country should be proud of one of the achievements gained by those returning from the Second World War who wanted change it should be defended at all costs. This is just part of the undermining of the NHS by an ideologically driven government.
It's always the 'Left's' fault with you, change the feckin record, We get it, You are a right- wing anti -European, up Cameron's and Farage's arse, Really glad I don't know you personally. I suggest that its the Right's desire to dismantle and privatise the NHS which is more of a problem, than anyone trying to make it a sacred cow. There's nothing weird about wanting a an NHS that is freely and readilly accessible to all. The privatisation of British rail for example was going to be the saviour and modernisation of rail travel, like hell it has.
Cancer survival rates in France and Germany far surpass ours, in fact every Western European country has better survival rates than us and many Eastern European ones too, Poland has worse outcomes though, maybe one of the reasons they come here. The NHS is broke and needs fixing, how many NHS doctors actually use the NHS themselves do you think? The problem is that governments talk about reform and all of a sudden the left jump in and start talking about the American system as if that's the only alternative when there's France, Germany, Switzerland and other health services better than ours we could copy or take the best parts from each.
I'd be willing to bet every penny I owe that that's to do with lifestyle and nothing to do with healthcare, IF those statistics are true.
Its just a shame that there are no left wing posters on here to defend the record of our last government and stand up for the under represented socialists.
