According to the Sunday People his contract will be mutually terminated and he is heading back up Scotland (the Country)
Oh, I like Scotland Always have ever since he said he wanted to play for the football and not the money (as evidenced by not asking for his contract paying up from his previous club).
Don't think anyone can criticise him since his been here, given nothing but his best. A few goals he scored that season tipped the balance between us drawing games and winning, definitely a key player in our survival. Just easy to forget all that with how terrible we are at the minute.
One of the best all round centre forwards we have had here. (I'm thinking of players like Neil Shipperley, Trevor Aylott, etc)… Admittedly past his prime when he came to us, but his play is still superb, if his pace is lacking. He is getting on a bit & is only good for 45 minutes, but would be sad to see him go. Danny is looking for more pace in the side, so fair enough if it happens, but I consider him a very good player.
The lads given his all when called upon, but been overlooked at times and dropped not through any poor play but to bring in a new striker or play a system with only one up top. Bringing him on when we were chasing the game was the thing to do, not when we were trying to hang on to a point or the very rare three.
It would have been great to have him (and Marlon) at the club during their prime years, but we always knew he was good for only one season. His goals were vital in our survival and he was happy to play for us. He also helped brighten the place up and lift the gloom left by Keith Hill. Good luck Jason, Jason.
Well said Jedstar, and I agree wholeheartedly. The goals he scored won most of those games, I'll never forget him scoring on his debut - coming on as sub against Millwall. What was it? 2 mins 30 secs or summat like that. What a beauty. All the best Jason Jason, I enjoyed your time with us, especially last season.
He'll always be held in high regard for the role he played last season, but in hindsight we should have probably released him in the summer. Seems to have lost another yard of pace and doesn't have the stamina to play longer than thirty minutes. Hopefully frees up some more of the wage bill to bring in a better striker. Best of luck to him though!
If he goes, then he should leave with every fan's best wishes for the future. He won us many vital points last season and played a large part in our successful battle against relegation. Sadly, time catches up with all of us.
I've always liked Scotland and think he's been one of our better performers when called upon this season as well as being instrumental to our good run under Flitcroft. If we've got soneone better/younger/faster lined up then fair enough. Attracting a better goalscorer will be tricky though purely n terms of finishing.
I will be sad to see him go. Done a grand job for us. Wish him all the very best. Good luck Jason Jason.
I think everyone understands the reasons & logic behind the move, assuming it's true. However, folk are expressing their appreciation for what Jason has done for our club and wishing him well for the future.
As with Chris Dagnall, I'll be quite saddened if this news turns out to be true. They both gave it their all for us last season, scored/created crucial goals and worked hard for the cause. It's just a shame that both were pushed down the pecking order this season to accommodate Marcus Pedersen who after a bright start initially has offered us very little considering the reputation he has and the alleged money we've invested in him. But then, he may come good for us? I hope so. There were signs of the COG/Peds partnership bearing fruit at one point (particularly against Huddersfield in a 3-5-2) so fingers crossed.
