....to be perfectly honest, how many are realistic? ALF - Started for Reading on Saturday and with his goalscoring record would be attractive to more than half the clubs in the Championship. % chances of him signing for us: 5, (at best) and that would be only a short term loan. Leon Clarke - On fire this season and rumoured to interest numerous clubs in the Championship. % chances of him signing for us: Nil, zilch, zero...particularly as he's looking for a permanent deal. Craig Davies - Plenty of Reds fans still bitter at the manner of his exit and the way that he threw in the towel knowing that he was going to leave. I include myself among these but I recognise that he could do a job for us. % chances of him signing for us: 60, now realises his limitations and may just be willing to take a bite at that humble pie? Would probably only be a loan deal though. Stephen Dobbie - Rumoured to favour a move up north so that rules his old buddy at Millwall out. Not an out and out goalscorer but gets his share and is clever little footballer, the type Danny would go for. Dare I say a bit 'Hendrie..esque'? % chances of him signing for us: 60 or better. If we could sign Dobbie and Davies I'd be reasonably pleased as I reckon they'd be an improvement on Scotland and Dagnall. In our position they'd be as good as we're likely to attract. Could be an interesting week.
ALF is not going to be aloud out on loan to a club in the top half of the championship though surely, it would be suicide letting him go to their fellow play off contenders so that means it'll have to be the bottom 8/10 clubs, so then he's looking at them clubs to see who'll be playing with and where he'll be living, he's played with Rotherham so he'll know the area he'll be living in, if your wanting a strike partner that puts a shift in and dose the donkey work then Chris O'Grady fits that bill,
I see your logic and maybe he will go to a lower half Championship club. If Wednesday lose Wickham though, he'd end up there before us I reckon. Really hope I'm wrong, as he'd be a terrific signing.
We're freeing up the wage bill by letting players leave for nothing for some reason lets hope its this
A Barnsley top!!!...sounds like my mates sister who likes Sheff W....because they have a nice costume ;D
Would have expected Le Fondre to possibly join Leeds or Huddersfield. Now Hudders have brought in Nahki Wells and Leeds are being strongly linked with Becchio, there could be a possibility of him coming but again, other sides are going to be after him. Leon Clarke featured a lot under Mick McCarthy at Wolves so could he end up at Ipswich? If they want to keep competing at that end of the table, they'll need to bring in reinforcements this month. Also, would expect Wednesday, Rotherham and Millwall in for him. Could potentially end up at us and is more realistic than Le Fondre. Craig Davies is another who may come to us. No doubt will have plenty of offers from League 1 with Micky Adams managing him twice and Russell Slade also raving over him in the past but cant see Barnsley fans welcoming him back with open arms. Heard Blackpool are in for Stephen Dobbie once again so would have to choose between us and a mid table club. Played at Pool a few times before and is the Northern club he wants. Would be a good signing but we need an out and out forward, not someone who sits behind.
Never are on here though, are they. Pretty much every player we're linked with, is dismissed as either 'no chance' or 'no thanks' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Who'd have thought we'd have got Butland on loan? Just because they're big names doesn't mean they won't come to us. They might want first team games for example, and someone like ALF is more likely to get them here than at most other clubs.
Depends on Vaughan. Spoke to a town fan saturday night and was raving about "Na na na na na na na Nahki Nahki Wells. Nahki Wells. Nahki Nahki Wells" partnering Vaughan up front for the promotion push. I questioned if Wells was brought in because Vaughan will be gone to Celtic or someone else this month. He didn't seem too sure he would stay or not. Hopefully Vaughan gets sold because those two up front are match winners.
Reading aren't gonna loan ALF to Leeds or Huddersfield, both rivals for the play off spots, it would be potential suicide. Far better to loan him to someone in the bottom half where he will play every week so he's in the shop window, he could maybe do damage to their rivals too.
I just think its unrealistic to think Le Fondre would come to us at this time. Bottom of the league and there will be better sides wanting him. I think Leon Clarke is the best option out of the remaining three. A good forward who can stick the ball in the net.
