http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20140112-oxford-on-but-inspection-on-monday-1289917.aspx "Charlton’s FA Cup third round game against Oxford United is still scheduled to go ahead at The Valley on Tuesday, but a pitch inspection will take place on Monday" If I was an Oxford fan, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Even those idiots couldn't fail to hold a pitch inspection the day before after this weekend's mess. But they are putting out messages that the match is still on before the inspection has taken place. I'd have kept my trap shut today.
They must be taken o task on both (a) how they handled the BFC postponement and (b) the general poor quality of their pitch. It just ain't acceptable at Championship level.
What can they do, given the volume of water dumped in a short space of time? Your first point is valid.
I'm sure I heard some comment on a recent interview, that they had not done any drainage system work on their pitch for the last 17-18 seasons. That, to me, is irresponsible, bearing in mind they have played in Premiership and Championship during this period.
Again think they are taking money under false pretentces again as they did with us Saturday. Have emailed the Commercial Manager and will be doing so to the Chief Operating Officer. I have his email address if anybody wants it - rather than writing to his address (they'll no doubt claim to not receive half of the letters!!). What a shambles
Ne'er mind championship level...Was going to watch Hallam FC v Dinnington on Saturday. Checked on their website at 11am and discovered they'd had an inspection at 9am and the match was off. If a NCEL match between two sides 15 miles(ish) apart can sort out an early inspection , surely a so called professional team can!
Amazingly charltons pitch passed a pitch inspection this afternoon. The match referee will though inspect again tomorrow as early as possible.
