    Further down that article - Shearer gets £8000 per MOTD appearance? As much as I admired the bloke as a footballer, that is a ridiculous way to spend the license fee. F**king BBC, can't stand 'em.

    The obscene amount of money that is washing around football makes me sick. What exactly does Shearer do to justify that sort of money? Oh yeah he tells us what we already know. Nice one BBC.

    We never actually played a foreign team in it and was seen more of a continental Johnstone's Paint Trophy (or whatever it was at the time).

    Be a good away day if we drew a foreign team though :) Assuming it actually gets off the ground and we are still a second tier side!

    So the top Championship clubs qualify for this cup and make a load of money, making the difference between the top and bottom of the league even more un-even?

    The attendances were shocking, think it cost the clubs more than they took in revenue. Thought these footballers played too many games already !!

    If it included all the teams in the Championship then I'd love to go abroad to see us play. Would be a cracking experience.

    As much as I'd love to see the reds play abroad I can't see there being a mass of interest in this for most fans unless of course you get a tie against a team like Tenerife. Would be a cracking piss up mind!
