Anyone wanting to see why the England team is ****** and will be ****** until the Premier League eats itself just needs to look at this. A young midfielder who obviously had the potential to be world class was not given his chance in the team but was instead shipped out to make way for an expensive import. Granted he wasn't English, but this happens time and again with young English players, except instead of being sent abroad they are usually sold to clubs lower down the footballing pyramid. Having taken a knock in confidence and receiving inferior coaching they then fail to reach their potential. The selling club has no interest in bringing them through and carefully managing them to fulfill their potential as thanks to the ridiculous amounts of money in the modern game they can just sign a ready made player for £20m+ instead.
