    flicker and rowing etc sold this club down the river on that transfer.

    Im really happy for Stonesy and seeing him flourish but we held all the cards and we gave him away. May as well pack in the academy if we are just going to keep doing that.

    Very good talent.
    England U21 left back.
    Played quite a few games last season for Southampton at 17. Very similar to Ashley Cole.

    And so is 3m for potentially the best ch england has had for many a year. He has everything.
    He should have had 10m put on his head straight away to either make them pay up or wait which would have only increased his value as he got better and increased the number of clubs after him.

    No doubt Shaw is talented but I can't believe any club would pay anything higher than £15m for him.

    Can't compare this situation to ours with Stones as Shaw has premiership experience & he's at a wealthy club who aren't in a position where they're desperate for money.

    agreed , we had to sell as i believe stones indicated he wanted to talk to other clubs. we could have however held him to contract, placed a 10 million quid valuation on him and told them to get bent if they didnt pay it

    we on the other hand probs needed 3million quid desperately and couldnt turn it down

    nope i distinctly remember at the time the club said we didn't need to sell and this was one of my biggest bugbears - apart from the fact i knew the fee was far too cheap.

    Gutted we will never see him play for us again as he was one of the main reasons i really looked forward to going to games.

    At the time I thought £3m was alright.

    More I think about it we have said balls to everyone and held out.

    Could have been looking at £8m+ and then we would have been sorted as a club for a while.
