Morning all, Ipswich fan in peace here. Heard a few rumours down our way and across your message boards that David Perkins is to join us today, is their anybody who can shed any light on that? Cheers.
Looks like he's heading to Blackpool instead mate. You've had a lucky escape he's been dreadful all season. His main attribute is that he runs about a lot, and he getting too old for that so he has nothing left to his game.
Good morning and welcome Rumours are that Perkins could well be moving to Blackpool, although your club were mentioned in despatches earlier in the week as an interested party. Personally speaking, seeing as the Play Offs are a realistic target, I would've thought that Ipswich have a higher standard of player targeted this month than Perkins.
I'd be very, very surprised mate. Perkins is a tenacious little bugger and he's served us well in our perennial battle against the drop. He's full of energy and can really get in the face of the opposition for such such a small fella. But his qualities as a footballer were never going to take him any higher than the bottom end of the championship and there are a number of people who think that's a step too far for him. I think that's harsh, he's been one of our better players over the previous couple of seasons, but I can't see how he'd fit in to a side with promotion aspirations. This season has been a different story. He's been poor. It looks to me like age has caught up with him and he can no longer get about the field like he once could. As that was his whole game, his game has now gone. For this level at any rate, he could still do a job in the league below. It looks nailed on that Perkins will be leaving us this week, but I would be shocked if it was Ipswich who are going to sign him. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but even at his best he may have found it difficult in a championship promotion chasing side and to me he looks to be way past his best.
A near miss mate, looks like his legs have gone, which is his entire game. Used to be great for us, one of the most hard working players I have seen in a reds shirt. Having said that he could just be in need of a change and can't be arsed to play for us.... Other than his work ethic, he is not championship quality.
You're being a bit harsh there mate. Think back a year and it looked like you were going down. Now you have every chance of the play-offs. Hell of a turnaround.
Think there's only me that rates him, am gutted he's going. He's strong for a little one, runs his heart out, not afraid of a good challenge. He's not the most intelligent footballer that's what he lacks.
Main reason he moved to is was to be closer to home. No chance will he be going to Ipswich as he states 'didn't enjoy it down south at all'.
No, I think people are being very harsh too. He was excellent for us in the past two seasons. Unfortunately he has gone off the boil this season, but he doesn't deserve the abuse he's getting. I do think it is time for him to move on though, but I'd much rather have seen him regain his form of the last two seasons.
On his day he's a nuisance. Player of the season last year, poor this year, seems to have lost pace and confidence
3 months ago I would have agreed, now I would not change the manager for anyone , see how we are in 12 months.
I meant for the turnaround - long term I've faith in DJW but genuinely think without getting 2 points a game average from the next 10 then we're as good as down. Massive task for him to keep us up.
We are in a worse position than last season, but we can do it. 66 points to play for and we have to go out and try and win every match, none of the sit back and try and contain and hope to sneak a goal. Go for it and if we go down at least we have had a go. I cannot accept that other teams deserve to beat us because they have more money than us, money is not everything, it makes things easier, but unless it is used correctly it can be an hinderance (see Flitcroft).
