If the good & bad results had been spread out he'd probably still be in a job, but they do look destined for relegation. Especially as Tom Ince looks to be off. They have very little quality other than him. Funny how very few top players make good managers.
Sacked by Text Message too. Spineless board. On a brighter note, Ince is suppose to be high on Mandaric's wanted list at Wednesday
I know am not supposed to mention him, but he did apply for this job whilst our manager, and he'll be a leading candidate. Also, makes you wonder who signed Perkins. I never saw any Ince article enthusing over Perks' arrival. Can't see he who can't be named being daft enough though. Onto a good thing again at that club that can't be named.
I know they've been on a shitty run and they showed nowt against us, but they're midtable, as close to the play-offs as they are relegation. And let's be reight, it's Blackpool. They've had a go in the Premier League (haven't we all), but that shouldn't mean they can expect to be at the top of the table. There are many clubs in this league with a lot more spending power than they have. Paul Ince is a bit of a nob head, but he was a nob head before they employed him, that has't changed, his managerial record with them isn't that bad. Midtable in the Championship is OK, it shouldn't be a sacking offence. Losing to the bottom of the table at the weekend wouldn't have helped, but they didn't really. The team, formation and style of play we produced on Saturday wasn't bottom of the league. If we'd played with the current manager and that team all season, we wouldn't be holding up the league. I don't suppose any board of directors at a football club would take that in to account though. I don't think any of them are that bright.
Agree with you Jay in the sense that directors at football clubs are far too rash and short term thinking. However, if I was a Blackpool fan witnessing that display I'd probably be calling for his head as well (particularly bearing in mind their recent poor run of form) His lad looked like he'd rather be anywhere else other than Oakwell and gave the impression that he was far superior to his team mates, when actually he was crap. Can't blame Ince for his young lad I suppose but it is a strange scenario with regards to his future at the club, clearly Paul has a vested interest in ensuring his lad secures the best deal possible whilst the club will only be interested in how much compo they receive. Worse than all that though was the style of football they played. Blackpool have been good to watch over the years, particularly under Holloway. On Saturday though it was largely lump it forward and hope for the best. In addition to that, the attitude of the players was poor and Ince as per usual was blaming everyone possible (the ref) rather than himself. Their disciplinary record this season has been appalling and that can't be a coincidence. Perhaps I'm not giving us the credit we deserve. Our shape and attitude was superb but putting myself in a Blackpool fan's shoes for the day I'd have been furious.
Ince of course is a bell end but is it really a sackable offence to be sitting in mid table? Blackpool can't really compete financially with any of the teams above them and you'd put them mid table or below. Again no defence of 'the guvnor' but just another example of football gone crackers.
Same happened to Mowbray though. We beat them, he lost his job. Now look at Boro. Perhaps Blackpool think a new man could reignite their playoff hopes?
It is when you've no win in 10 and at the same time trying to cost the club paying your wages four million by trying to get your son to sign for nothing for a foreign team.
No wins in 10 is not good clearly but 14th in the table on Blackpool's budget is about as good as you can expect. Look at the table do you think Blackpool should Che based on finances, support etc be above any of the other teams I'd say probably not. In fact you could argue that they are 3/4 places above where you would expect them to be. The ins and outs of Tom's transfer I have no idea about as I'm sure no one other than Tom Ince does. The power in that situation is with the player not his team or manager anymore. Like I say I'm not defending Ince per se as he's a knobjockey but this sack sack sack culture does nothing for football in the long term if you want a prime example look at us!
True but they are a much 'bigger" club than Blackpool as are Boro different leagues in terms of financing.
In terms of potential fanbase etc, and the owners propensity to finance the club, yes they are. But Blackpool raked in over £100m apparently a few years ago. They've spent very little of it. That's what their fans hate. They despise the Oyston family who have seemingly banked that Prem money, or, spent it on themselves rather than the club. So they aren't skint. The owner just refuses to bankroll them. They're one of a few clubs in the division who I see as smaller than us. But then, I saw Bristol City similarly. Potential is all that club has ever been. And Boro struggle to get 15,000 fans in at the moment. They're not much bigger than we are in many respects. They just dropped on a chairman who unlike the Oyston family, backs his club financially.
Actually, the Blackpool fans applauded their team off on Saturday (that's what it looked like anyway). What was all that about? If that had been us with no win in 10, just got beat at the bottom team, we would have been baying for blood.
Serves him rite for rugby talking the fan that run on pitch when we played Liverpool at home when Morgan (the cun*) got sent off Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
