Surely they aren't stupid enough to pay him that. They could get 2 players better than him for that. He'll be gone in the summer I reckon.

What you have to pay for one of the best players in the world.

Well done to Manchester United for offering him the new contract too.

He's coming for you Bobby Charlton

He'll be at Chelsea this Summer if United fail to make the top four. Trust me. He won't stick around to play Europa League football (if they scrape that).

Club on the decline. Been a long time coming. It happened to Liverpool when I was a lad. And they were a far better side.

You really are a product of the Sky Generation aren't you. Don't you see anything wrong with the fact that people can be paid more in one week for playing football than the paying public are typically paid in 12-15 years? Obscene.

Hope Moyes tells him to shove it. Hateful club with hateful players. Hurry up and implode Manchester Utd

He'd swap it all for a full head of hair. Not been the same player since it fell out when he was 20. Still, better hairdressers down the Kings Road. Better prozzies too. He'll need that 170k per week.

    12 goals behind for England
    42 for Manchester United.

Then we will be able to salute our new record England goal scorer and Manchester United will be able to salute there record goal scorer.
Would expect it to happen all before he's 30/31

when is the football world going to stop with this ridiculous money game. Nobody should be paid that amount of money. I think id be embarrassed to earn that when there are people like nurses etc whom have such an important role in society and earn an absolute pittance. Whilst people go on paying these inflated prices to see their "heroes" it wont stop. Money has ruined football and its getting worse. They are earning in 2-3 days what a nurse gets paid in a year. Disgusting.

Difference being, Sir Bobby was more of a midfielder, was generally regarded as one of the best in the world, lifted a World Cup and was a gentleman who earned very little from the game he served with such distinction.

Wayne Rooney is not, and never will be in the same class. He's one of England's best players at present, but he'd not even get in the 1993 England team that failed to get to the World Cup. And he's a first rate bellend.

The government take nearly 50% of a footballers wage don't they?

There's your answer for why it's not being stopped.

Same reason that smoking and alcohol aren't banned despite the deaths they cause.

    Money talks.
