Lawrence and Mellis, whilst attacking midfielders in the main, are comfortable in a deeper role. And Digby and Dawson can get up and down the pitch from central midfield. Jim O'Brien can do a job in there, and of course then there's Bobby Hassell who is pretty much the best footballer employed by the club. A bloke who can play in practically any position, able to do any job asked of him by a manager who rates him highly. And central midfield suits him. His passing range off either foot is bang on. Great in the air. Positional sense that only De Zeeuw bettered, under Danny. Just a shame he's still suffering from injury, but he'll play a key role in the remaining games I suggest, once fit (after the Wednesday game I reckon). He's also a great role model and mentor for young Digby. If he listens as keenly as young Stones did, he too will benefit from Bobby's teaching and flourish. Cywka, Paddy and Jennings could operate centrally, too, even Shea maybe? Martin Cranie? So yes, plenty of midfield options. But if Danny wants someone quality in there on loan, there's a number 6 in Teeside wasting away.
Well, it seems that the Hassmeister is to be our saviour, therefore I suggest we bring in one or two extra physios...
Hassell who is pretty much the best footballer employed by the club. You'll be given Alan Carr a run for his money with comments like that. He's not in top 15 at Oakwell.
If we can keep hold of McLaughlin and Shea, I'm perfectly happy with what we've got. If not, we'll need another right back and someone who can play the second striker/wide role.
It seems people think different things. Some don't think we need anyone that isn't at the club, I think a new central midfielder and some say left back although I wouldn't agree with that because of Kennedy and Nyatanga. I still really think central midfield short still after reading this thread.
Of all the possible comedians he could have gone with, he went with the one whose father knows a hell of a lot about football. I bet his father rates Bobby.
Are you not going to answer Mansfield Red's question to you? Do you rate Rodolph Austin as one of the best central midfielders in the division? Or are you going to just keep on ignoring people? It's very rude, mate. We have the decency to respond to you.
I would say hes one of the best. Leeds fans rate Austin very highly and when I watch Leeds on TV (Quite a lot haha) then hes one of the players i always think I would love him at Oakwell with a few other players like Trotter at Millwall....
And yet he's still frustrated that he was kept in Hassell's pocket before christmas, his form has dipped so bad since that game that he has given up the captaincy at Leeds, Personally think he's ****, hate him nearly as much as Brown.
True, regarding Leeds on TV. I've never been too impressed with Austin. The way Hassell bossed him despite not being fit served only to enforce my opinion. Is your negative opinion of Bobby your true opinion, or is it merely a wind-up? Genuine question.
Give up with your bossed him. Leeds didn't utilise there Midfield at all really apart from a couple of times. One of those occasions Austin did break through and scared the barnsley back line.
