I think that's a bit harsh. He was the only proper midfielder in the starting line up. They played through us too easily, but you can attribute that to the other 3 that started too. Got done for the 2nd goal, but after he was turned there wasn't a lot else he could do being on a yellow. One of the centre backs should have closed down quicker. For me, starting 4-4-2 with O'Brien and Dawson together was asking too much of both of them.
Digby at least stayed in position and didn't go chasing the ball like a dog on Scarbrough beach. Was it a co-incidence that we stopped getting overrun in the second half once the headless chicken had gone off?
Yes. Certainly for the first 20 minutes or so. I don't think he found a red shirt once. Settled into it in the last 25
Bingo. Did EVERYTHING that Dawson should have been doing in the first half. Didn't get walked through. Never went missing. Got on the ball and moved it around well and generally made us a lot more solid.
Yeah, you evidently. Have a good nap and reassess what you think you understand about football. Night.
He was completely ineffective once he'd been booked. It was his own fault though. Why he went through the back of someone receiving a throw in on the half way line is beyond me. If he didn't of got booked there he'd of took down the midfielder who he was chasing in the build up to Blackburn's goal. His own stupidity meant we went in 2-1 down instead of 1-1.
it really isn't. He did ok in the end and he held his position a lot better than Dawson or O'Brien but tomfuns right, his first few passes were straight to Blackburn shirts. It happened. It's a fact.
I'm staggered Digby is being criticised. Thought he made a huge difference. Just by actually being in central midfield. Played it simple - often played into trouble by his teammates. Tried to pass forwards, which is rare.
He gave the ball away once early on. Followed it up with a 25 yard pass straight to O'Grady's feet that he'd been screaming at his teammates to do for an hour.
