Last nights result and the fact that we came from behind to get a point made me think. Have we ever come from behind to win a game? Have we ever come from 2 goals down to get a draw. How many times have we got a positive result in the last minute. (Crystal Palace scoring against Peterborough doesn't really count!) The only time that sticks in my mind of us coming from behind to win was Liverpool in the cup- and this had two of those three which makes it truly extraordinary in my mind. Maybe my memory is cloudy - in general I can't remember us scoring from a corner. Doing anything from a throw in. Or scoring in the last 5 minutes to win (Liverpool aside - and I think once we under Robins, maybe Cardiff or Ipswich..) I remember throwing many many games from 2 nil up or more - Ipswich (several times), Stoke, Leeds, Charlton - I shudder to think how many times we were 2-0 up and fecked it up. I hope last nights comeback is the jolt the team needs to drive on. But can anyone enlighten me as to another time when we came from 2 goals down to get a result. A game this century would be nice. But anytime post Glavin - I'm at a loss.
Well, going back a bit we were once 3-0 down at home to Fulham after 6 or 7 minutes and came back to win 4-3. I also recall, a few years later, us being 2-0 at home after a few minutes, only to win 5-2. It was either Reading or Stoke, Reading I think, because we beat the, both 5-2 within a couple of weeks of each other. Joe Joyce scored a diving header in one of them and did this weird celebration whilst on his knees in front of the Ponty, waving his arms around like Bez on acid.
Sorry, just re-read the OP and you wanted one this century, so how about Wednesday away a few years ago, first game of the season. Weren't we 2-0 down at half time, only to come back and draw 2-2?
Blackpool away last season to win - Jason Scotland Ipswich away last season to draw - Danny Rose Burnley at home in the cup last season to win - Danny Rose All last minute goals and all within about a month of each other last January!
As you said, mate, the away game at Sheffield Wednesday, first game of the 2009/10 season. Home to Blackpool during the promotion season of 2005/06, 2-0 down then pulling it back to 2-2. The first away game back in the Championship the following season, 2-0 down at Hull City before hitting back to win 3-2. Just off the top of my head.
Last season we came from behind twice to win. Away at 'Boro and home to Wolves. Stephen Foster's equaliser in injury time at Cardiff sticks out as a last minute goal of note. This season 5 of our 9 draws have come after going behind. No victories yet though.
I was randomly thinking of those Reading/Stoke games the other day when someone mentioned night games on here. Fantastic matches both. I remember Rodger the dodger Wylde netting a couple and of course Joe's madness which I enjoyed.
We seem to do it quite often against Blackpool. Didn't we come from a goal down a few years ago to beat them 2-1, Hassell scored with about 15 minutes left I believe then Andy Gray scored a last minute penalty.
Grant McCann scored a 97th minute volley for us against S****horpe I think, think it was posted on here a few weeks ago. Carl Dickinson scored a 94th minute free kick to beat Cardiff too. I seem to remember a 93rd minute goal for Jon Macken to beat Ipswich at home a few years ago.
Think we were 2_0 down at Chesterfield once ad won three two not sure if Eric Winstanley was played at centre forward but memories not too good nowadays
1-0 down to donny then Darren Moore getting sent off and us winning 4-1 with 10 men sticks in my mind
