Yeah, caught in possession and a couple of stray passes. Probably just needs a couple of games to find his feet. Let's be right (and I said it at the time) he was thrown in the deep end last night. Arguably the best midfield we've faced this season. He certainly didn't let anyone down and against weaker opposition I'm hoping we'll see a bit more from him in an attacking sense. Just conscious we need to be patient with him. He's going to be inconsistent, he's a young lad. But all the attributes are there so don't see any good reason not to pick him.
I'm probably Paddy's biggest fan, but I have to agree that if Danny couldn't see a use for him last night then he'll probably be on his bike. It's a shame because that type of quality doesn't come along very often, but even I accept that we're in a scrap and it's probably about work-rate more than sublime skills. I'd love to see him in a good side though.
Agree Nick looks like a goalscorer. Can't remember a forward getting as many shots away as him for us recently (even if a couple were row Z) Again, agree that O'Grady isn't a natural but he offers so much to the team that he's the first on the team sheet every week. Works his ballacks off and has the strength (and a brain) to hold the ball when we're under the cosh. Dunno about Shea. I don't think he's class but not made my mind up yet. If he starts pitching in with goals it'll make my mind up for me. Vaz Te was gangly, a bit awkward and unpredictable too but he could find the net. A tool any attacking midfielder/winger needs in my opinion.
yeah a good solid point against a better team where our endeavour and hard work paid off for a point, see Leeds away...not to be confused with Birmingham away which was definitely 2 points dropped against a **** team
Haha, exactly. I think he has something about him. He looks quick and direct but not really produced anything for me because he's not been in the right positions (certainly wasn't last night in that diamond thing we played. If we're playing with wingers in a front 3, play with wingers and not O'Grady. And I don't mind O'Grady not being a goalscorer if he scores double figures as a target man for us!
As good as Blackburn were and as bad as we have been all season, a draw at home still disappoints me.
Problem is, double figures from O'Grady won't keep us up. I'm not knocking him, just pointing out the difficulty of winning matches without a natural goalscoer in the team.
It will if the midfield weigh in with goals. Vaz Te's goals from midfield were vital, as were Butterfields. Redfearns goals were a major factor in us getting promoted. Mellis got a few last season didn't he? I take your point though. Which is my I'm torn between playing O'Grady up top on his own (I think we control the game better) or playing 2 up front as in last night where we surrender a lot of possession but are more likely to get a goal.
