Has what looks like an over pronated running style. It causes him to run flat footed, with his feet slightly out turned.

Done well to make it to the level he has with a running style like that. Surprised he hasnt picked up more injuries.

Apart from that, I prefer his corners to Kennedy's

Best corners since Hume. First assist tonight too.

    Butterfield's were decent. Either peg.

Barnard's were the best I've seen, mind.

He could take them with either peg but neither were that good if we're being honest.

Unused sub in the last 4 games. Whats going on?

We're all - he included - asking the same question. Very frustrating for us.

Strange how other managers aren't taking to him. 2 footed, eye for a pass, skifull and got a fantastic shot on him. Maybe he's in a siuation like he was under robins where he is not trusted defensively?

Could be. We're racking our collective brains. Thing that baffles us is that he was named man of the match in four of his last five starts.

He's wasted on a bench. May as well have stayed at Norwich and picked up the Prem wage. We'll know more later on I think.

Think you'll find he's played at a lot higher level than this...what a load of old dross..

What are you talking about its a load of old dross. I've worked with clients who have chronic knee problems due to over-pronated and over-supinated walking styles. Never mind a footballer who is running himself to the ground 6 days a week.

And I know he's played at premier league level for a number of years. Thats exactly what I'm saying. He's done remarkably well to avoid injury with such an unorthodox style of running.

What? Just saying if fans aren't taking to him massively might be same with managerial team not a dig or anything.. He said he's the kind of player they can't afford at the min as they sure up the back and stop conceding sloppy goals.

They've certainly done that, other than at Leicester. It's mind numbingly bad football under this fella, not at all what I expected from a Spaniard. But they've picked up points recently - against **** sides like, but still.

All the lad can do is take his chance when/if he gets it. And if chances aren't forthcoming he'll have to move on. He's not one for sitting on his arse. He could have stayed on double the salary at Norwich for three years if he was that way out. He still believes - as do we - that he's as good as there is in this division and if he has to take a step back again to eventually go forward, he will.

Oh, and I wasn't being arsey. I thanked you for your post. I don't speak to Boro fans myself. And he's rarely mentioned on their forum, it's as though he's their version of Paddy at the minute.

Ah sorry thought you interpreted what I said as a dig, comparing him to their version of Paddy isn't far from the impression I get to be honest! A lot see him as a luxury they can't afford but acknowledge he is capable of brilliance.

EDIT: According to the guy from work and his mates, can't speak for the entirety of boro fans obviously.

I can kind of see their reasoning, but then I see Emnes selected in that position and it beggars belief. He's painfully average.

I wonder if, in hindsight, he regrets leaving Barnsley. I always felt he left a year or two early and I think that has been proven to be right. It can only have hindered his development. I understand why he left, because he had confidence in his own ability and I imagine Norwich doubled what we could afford to pay him. However, I think it was a short term gain for a long term sacrifice.

After being crippled by Brown, the club offered him a 12 month deal on under 4k a week. That was four times his previous weekly salary, so therefore the club would be entitled to compo at a tribunal should other clubs come in for him. But have a think about that. 4k a week, for a year, for a 21 year old who was star player and captain? Hardly secure is it? And hardly shows they were that keen to for him to stay.
It was one of Keith Hill's biggest arguments with the board was their dealings with Jacob. The previous Summer, they refused to give him an extension, saying "wait and see" until Xmas. And think on, we then gave Mido 5k a week when Jacob left. We're paying a lot of our current players well over 4k a week now.

And so during rehab, not knowing for sure if his knee would repair 100%, he gets offers from Premier League clubs, four year contracts, on near enough four times what BFC offered. He'd have been a ******* plum if he'd turned that down. It has set him up for life, financially. And he chose what he believed to be the right club at the time, a lower end Prem club where he fancied his chances of featuring. Of course, it didn't work out like that. But he didn't sit on his money, he was told by Norwich he could leave if he wanted to, and hand on heart, he'd have returned here and we could have afforded it prior to the Boro move. But Flitcroft said no and recruited the likes of Paddy, Fox, Butland and Ramage with funds given to him by Cryne. Now I'm not saying he was wrong to say no or owt. But I am saying Jacob loved it at Oakwell and left only because he'd have had to have been stupid not to, at that time.

But we thought Boro was a good move for him, on a decent contract, living back in Yorkshire near his family and friends. Under a decent manager who rated him. But again, after a decent start it went badly for him. He was hauled off at Oakwell, Mowbray was sacked and he's been in and out under Karanka ever since.

It's not a sob story. The lad has a great life. But I think he's learned a lot about himself and about football this last couple of years. He just wants to play.

Does he regret leaving BFC? Not at all.

Does he wish things had been different? Probably.

And he's still the only player that I know of, who rang the club after leaving to ask if he could do an interview to thank the people of BFC and the supporters for 'supporting' him and helping him get the chance to live the dream. It's still on Player somewhere.

*Remember, I am as biased as it gets when discussing this subject, so, tha knows.. :)

I'd love to see him once again play for us, from a supporting perspective. From a family/relationship perspective? Not so sure. Can thy imagine the stick I'd get on here if he was ****?

Free tickets wunt go amiss, mind.

interesting - didn't know that about Flitcroft turning the chance to have him back down. Mental. Or that we only offered him £4k. Equally mental. I had assumed (not sure why given our inept transfer dealings) that they had offered him to be highest paid player at the club. £5k a week for Mido. Wow.

I think he'd flourish in this team under Danny's guidance. He is one of the best young players I have seen turn out for us and it is frustrating to see him going to waste at Boro - he needs to play.
