Just heard an audioboo and Danny describes Martin Woods as a central midfielder with a left foot. I honestly thought he was a winger. I hadn't heard his name for a few years until yesterday, and could have swore blind he was a winger, but according to Danny he's here to play centrally and so I'd like to apologise to Hemsworth and admit I was wrong on this and he was right.
That was pointed out yesterday. But it isn't the argument. Hemsie is denying Woods has ever been a left sided player or winger, not the role Danny has in mind for him.
I can't say for certain but I thought he played wide against us for the Pikeys. I'm sure Danny will get the best out of him wherever he plays him.
Can I just say that according to one Donny ST holder I talked to today, he always played his best games as a winger, he has played centrally but always better on the wing ! This fella I asked says if he is played wide then we have a great player if he stays fit.
Here you are, not hard to find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Woods In the same interview Danny also talks about adding width and strengthening the wings in reference to Woods.
Years ago he did like I said last night but for the last 3/4 seasons he's been playing in the middle. If i was to liken him to another player it would probably be Grant McCann. A player that could play wide but now only plays central and sits deep and controls the play
I like this bit ". He is an attacking left-sided midfield player noted for his long range shooting and free kicks. " Does that mean Kennedy`s days are numbered with free kicks etc ?
can I ask you something ? How many times have you been to Doncaster and watched him? Gary, who I asked today, has held a ST for Donny since the 80`s and he says he has not played centrally very often, probably less than 15 matches in all the time he has been at Donny, so just how can that be years ago? Unless he has only played 15 matches in the last 3/4 seasons?
I think he started off as a left winger, but moved into the middle during his Rotherham days. A bit like Brian Howard. More of a ball player than somebody that's going to take on two or three players. Good acquisition, in my opinion.
I'm reacting to the ******* nonsense that a debate about where somebody plays is worthy of UN regulation procedure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's my not so subtle hint (to HT) that sometimes it's ok to be wrong, and admit as much. Sent from my laptop using the power of the internet.
