Very entertaining to see the cat try and work out how far away it needs to be before its safe!

There was a review online of the one we got (sprays to about 15-20 metres i think) and the guy who wrote it was a comic genius, you could feel his pain and misery with every word written! Tried to find it but no joy so far sadly!

 

I have a live trap which basically drops a flap door down after cat has entered for pre laid food. A bucket of water onto cat, then release it. Not to be seen again in garden

As long as the cat isn't hurt (nor my dogs, or the birds), just deterred, I'm open to all these suggestions.

 

I like the "big cat" manure suggestion - it may also deter burglars

 

I think they hate the smell of plants from the onion family too. Try alliums and garlic chives in pots or beds where they tend to come in. Also climbing plants on trellis tends to stop them entering too.

And if all else fails... run at them with a broom and hit close to them *ahem* ... just one sight of you after that and they sprint!!!

Not wanting to sound an expert in this genre or anything!!!!

 

Spraying them with water will obviously get rid of them, but it doesn't stop them coming back though does it? Plus you'll need to "on guard" 24/7, which is also impractical. What is there to stop them coming in the garden in the first place?

Have to be careful with a trap though... if you caught a squirrel, it's actually illegal to release it and you'd have to kill it.
