Bet nothing happens with the ffp. We try to compete by doing things within our means, but we really can't. Hope Caskey has read that and seen how much ***** his team's in.

I think things will happen. Points deductions been one.

On the article they new last season that they weren't within it and tried to cut then so I think they might be have big problems.

We'll see but a number of clubs have come out really concerned with it.

If Uefa can make Chelsea not over spend then they can stop Teams like Brighton over spending thats for sure.

How about a one point deduction for each million they are over the £8m cut off mark the football authorities are trying to impose. So Brighton will start next season on -6 points, Blackburn on around -35 points and if Bolton win every game they'll end the season on -25 points.

I'd be very wary if I ran a local business and any of these clubs starting asking to use my services. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of businesses in Bolton, Birmingham and Leeds who won't be getting paid for starters. I just hope the poor players and sacked managers get everything they are owed. Poor little chickens.

    why shouldn't they get paid.
They sign legal contracts with the clubs.

As do many of the other creditors but that doesn't secure them payment in full when a football club goes into admin.

I hope it does happen and the FA follow through with the plans and make the punishment just.

Any other business & their owner would be in some right shi.t if they posted debts anywhere near what some clubs are.

I agree with heavy points deductions and also think season long incoming transfer embargoes should be used.

Exactly, and that goes for non playing staff too. And I dare say the other creditors price their services more realistically. It'll be a long time until the St John Ambulance Brigade drives a football club into administration because of it's demands.

I work in the insurance industry and if a new company started up offering 20 of us £50k per week to go and work for them I doubt if we'd get paid when the company very quickly went t!ts up. Football clubs go into administration because the wages they pay their players, coupled with the fees they pay other clubs for their services, far outweigh their income. Yet when the club goes into administration the only people guaranteed to be paid their full whack are the players who put the club into administration in the first place. They are then free to wander off and sign a similar contract with the next stupid club. All the local businesses that are owed money get nowt. 5 pence in the pound, or in Pompey's case, 5 pence in the 5 pence in the pound the second time they went into administration, because when they came out of administration the first time they spent their money on signing more new players on silly contracts and didn't pay any of the original creditors off. Disgusting! Unfortunately, the local businesses that get stiffed don't always have the chance to take their services elsewhere, unlike the footballers, because they are driven out of business through the money the football club didn't pay them.

So don't expect me to weep for the players if the rules changed and they didn't get paid in full, despite having signed contracts, because its their silly wages that are causing all the problems in the first place. And I don't buy into that 'short career' bolox either, because, whilst I agree that their earning power as a professional footballer only lasts around 15 years, what makes them feel they have the right to retire at 33 with millions in the bank and a nice football pension from age 35. Only a generation ago footballers knew their football career would be over in their mid-30s, so those that didn't want to stay. In the game planned for this. Barnsley famously had several players in the 80s putting themselves through night school and Clive Baker works in a similar industry to me. They were well paid in those days too, enough to have their mortgages paid off and what not, but mot enough to retire at age 33 and feel like they've done their bit for society. I'm 44 and into my third career, so why do footballers feel this doesn't apply to them. After all, for the sacrifices that they make...or that some of them make...they have a pretty cushy life for their big salaries whilst they are playing. Plenty of free time to be planning ahead.

When I was a kid the worst thing in football was probably hooligans and old school boardrooms, where they were too busy divvying the money up between them to invest in the death trap football stadiums. Nowadays it is one thing alone. Greed! Greedy players, greedy agents, greedy owners, greedy FIFA officials. Greed is not good, no matter what Gordon Gekko might have you believe. It's why I haven't had any real interest in football for years and it's only my love of Barnsley football club that keeps me going. I almost fell out of love with BFC too though a few years ago, when the fans were collecting outside the ground and just about managed to collect enough to keep a useless reserve striker in wages that week! Fortunately, since Patrick Cryne has taken over, bit by bit it has restored my faith in the club and we are now being run in such a way that should be envied by many other clubs, despite our current league position. And I'm grateful that our club has people like Bobby Hassell and Bruce Dyer linked with it, who appreciate who put them there and give it back to the community by the bucketloads.

That just about sums my thoughts entirely, even down to losing interest in all but BFC. esp. The Premier League and England.

I know. Imagine what they'd be like in another three years or so, when the crowds go back down to their historic average. See Bolton/Blackburn for that example.

Ridiculous. They've gone for broke to try and get in the Premier League is which exactly what FFP is supposed to prevent.

Nothing will happen, they'll do the same next year and post even bigger losses.

You're right, a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon at Brighton but as most of them don't have a very long affinity with the club it will be a lot easier for them to get bored and jump off. The Brighton hardcore is probably smaller than ours.

It needs UEFA/FIFA to stop Man City from playing in the Champions League for a start, like that will ever happen.
