Stewards clearly on an agenda to make everyone in east stand side of Ponty End sit in their seat, weather man, woman, family, Dad with a young son, groups of lads in their teens or twenties but if your 6ft + with a bald head you can sit where you like.

John Kettley is a weatherman, a weatherman, a weatherman.
John Kettley is a weatherman, and so is Michael Fish.

Aren't the stewards there for safety? If no ones at risk stay down at the front and mind their own business,

Tell you what, I wouldn't sit in that part of the ground if you paid me. There's always something kicking off.
Smoke bombs, grown men in altercations with stewards every week.
I don't know what was going off at the back, and I don't know what the stewards were up to, but today I saw a bloke shove 2 stewards down the aisle.
Straight after, a group of 4 or 5 young kids , no older than 12, moved towards the trouble area, taunting the stewards shouting "W'nkers, W'nkers"
To be honest I find the whole thing very distasteful, and it's not what I like to see at Oakwell. Same as last week. People old enough to know better smashing in seats.
General yobbery, and the "we'll do what we want" attitude.
Our own fans are going to land our club in big trouble if this carries on.

Gangway 1 folks in the Ponte don't help themselves with their behaviour though. Seats are there to be sat on, racism isn't right and smoke bombs shouldn't be brought into the ground.

What I find ironic is then singing were Barnsley tv we'll do what we want.

It's Barnsley football club asking you to do it you brainless fools.

3 calls to Praise or Grumble on this subject, from sensible, older fans too. Said the stewards caused a problem that wasn't there. Where are we in this contract with Doyle securities? I thought it was 10 years, from when P Doyle was ousted?
We need a friendly, professional firm like the lads at MK Dons.

    It was same at Hillsboro
Near front in centre and about 6 nob heads decide they want to stand up all match. They restrict the view of other fans and women and kids. Who wants to stand up all match when you can sit with good vision. Them who want to stand should go to back

Al tell thi what it's all about (a young lad I know got a 2 year 'exclusion' from Oakwell last week)

To try and split the young lads up who sit in top left hand corner of the Ponty TOther week they cordoned off that top section and asked them all to sit in their correct seats! I don't sit in myST seat and haven't for 15 years or so.

I'm not advocating any racist etc stuff that goes on up there! Anyway, they sat there regardless! Spark lit!

So last week v Blackburn the stewards asked em all for their ST's or tickets. If they weren't in correct seats either move, and/or go out! If they had STs then confiscated and they had to attend the club with a parent to 'collect' the ST with a warning!

Kid I know attended and was told he's banned from Oakwell for two years. No official football banning order but a BFC ban.

Don't know what to make of it all really. I wasn't in the Pontytoday but saw it from the East Stand. Some really proper genuine older heads involved?!? Don't know those details but it all seemed the Stewards (from afar) again vastly overreacted

Don't know what's happened in that side of The Ponty, I'm at the other side, but I saw the aftermath last week as a kid was thrown out and it wasn't pleasant. I'm not surprised some people have been banned. It was an intervention from a bloke in wheel chair away from a gang of lads attacking two stewards.

Sometimes I don't get some stuff with stewards.

The other week against Blackburn a steward told 2 guys to sit where they want and presume told others the same.

The 2 guys won't budge saying steward was happy they were there, 2 mins of discussion later in ear and eye shot of the steward who does nothing (apart from moving on the odd 5 year old waiting for his dad), I point out 2 seats further down the row for them.

Cheers steward you p***y who could have sorted it.

sorry old **** but you sit where the **** it says on your ticket and if you hate those rules which you agreed to when you bought a ticket and you insist on assaulting stewards and generally acting like a knob then you can quite frankly **** off and sit where you like in your own home

Also there is a certain irony in unemployed people singing 'get a proper job'

Sorry but the stewards didn't cause the trouble. Arsewipes were standing and jumping up and down not in their seats but in the gangway which is dangerous no matter how you look at it. They went up and without using any physicality or violence tried to get the people back to their seat to which they were told to get a proper job, called fat *******s and then had a few hundred drunks singing 'we'll sit where we want' and 'we'll do what we want'. Now I ask you who is causing a problem there? The people doing their jobs and asking people to abide by the rules of the ground or the people breaking the rules, shouting insults and saying 'we'll do what we want'?

Furthermore the stewards asked one bloke to go back to his seat who then ran past them and into the gangway before jumping up and down and shouting again, this bloke then pushed stewards and legged it into the stand where he was promptly supported by other drains on society who also started jumping up and down before assaulting stewards by pushing them down the stairs.

The problem is caused by the drunken knobheads who think they can do anything they want and get away with it. The same people I would assume who shout racist abuse at away games, threaten barnsley fans and rip seats out of the ground

personally "typing" there's nob-eds all over oakwell
i get little ****s behind me spending 90+mins kicking the backs and using our seats as foot stools before and at half time, also the half pissed nobs rolling in 10/15 mins into the game,
i can cope with bad language knowing my 9 year old probably knows them, but knows not to say em, not in front of me anyway,
why do some people think its ok to "sit" on a seat in an upright position?
must be uncomfortable anyway and still restricts the view of those smaller sat behind.
i inquired to our seats being changed ages ago but no reply, hence our season ticket renewals will be returned not known at this address.

    family club my bottom!

Sit at the far end of the East Stand and saw a steward get pushed down the stairs in the Ponty End. Regardless of whether you think they've waded in unnecessarily, it's disgusting behaviour.

I'm same mate, and they were running into stewards faces and screaming at them and just generally shoving them all over the place. Why weren't the police involved ? Everyones rock hard when they're in a gang.

Clearly this is divisive, some are blaming the stewards, some are blaming the fans. But surely it's always been like this? Surely there's always been young lads wanting to stand together? Surely drunk fans have always streamed in after kick off and stood in the way of other people? So why is this issue suddenly becoming so prominent causing friction with the stewards? I think there's simply been a huge culture change in how we watch football. The idea of standing with mates and singing etc is becoming more marginlised with the majority preferring to sit and not get involved in the atmosphere. If I remember back to the early 00's, that side of the Ponty was always on it's feet in numbers, always singing, not always being politically correct. It was accepted then. Surely nowadays we can reach a compromise rather than simply banning the next generation of fans who overstep the mark whilst trying to create an atmpsphere? Singing section anyone?
