Awful weather but well done to Trust for putting it on. About 50 hardy souls made the effort. Just finished a two and half hour session and great Q&A. Watson had driven for 5 and half hours
Must admit the weather put me off plus I'd have been cutting it fine getting there, hope everyone who went enjoyed it.
Same here. Really liked Dave so I hope he enjoyed it too, especially after he travelled all that way.
He definitely seemed to. Very open about things including the England team. Answered a lot of questions and was very amusing when the goals he conceded were shown. A very good evening, one of the best I've been to.
He talked very professional, insightfully and answered lots of questions. Sadly no News of the World type rubbish to report
Does anyone remember A Question of Sport? One of the questions was 'Which goalkeeper is this?' showing an amazing save he made. Everyone on the panel guessed Schmeichel, but we were all shouting 'it's Dave Watson' at the screen, and it was. I can't remember which game it was from at all.
never forgave dave Watson for being useless at crosses that day at Molinuex, 3-1 up and ended up drawing 3-3 - closest ive come to seeing us win there
Did he speak about the time we were 3-0 up against Ipswich at home with five minutes to go and were lucky they hit the woodwork so they didn't win 4-3? Forget who gave him the backpass at 3-0 up that he messed up.
I was there. Two hand balls and an offside, by Bull, Goodman and Roberts cost us 3 points. And they knew it.
In all seriousness Dave Watson was a fantastic servant for our club, injury robbed of him a move to a premier league team. Always good to see a local lad do well, especially with us.
Best home grown player I've ever seen play for Barnsley. I'm sure he would have played for England except for the injury Gutted I missed tonight's chat the drive over from Sheffield was a bit too much in these conditions
I was there and I'm of that opinion, too. As for Watson, me and r old boy beat him and a mate of his at Snooker up Royston. He had not long since retired, and we saw him in there regular. And on this day he asked if we fancied a game of doubles. Top bloke that night, top keeper, and one of the only things that makes me proud when England are on TV.
Thoroughly enjoyed the night. Dave came across as a very knowledgeable and articulate coach. He has done immensely well to bounce back in a coaching capacity from an injury ruined career and has obviously won over many admirers in high places. It's great to see a local lad on the England coaching staff and good luck to him I say. To put himself out on a night like this for no personal gain at all does him great credit.
