the paper that most of the town used to be proud of, wouldn't be surprised if it closes in a few years

It could do with a takeover.

I think the infamous headline was a typo, apparently Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen had been linked with a makeover but saw the West Stand Bogs and decided against it.

Their own fault for hiring 2nd rate journalists - in fact 2nd rate would be an improvement on the shambles who currently cover Barnsley FC

I think it was the changes they made with the main editor that ruined it, the dynamic of the paper completely changed. The few old guard who are still there still provide some credibility to the paper's generally stories, but how Doug O'Kane signs off on the woeful stuff the people under him provide is ridiculous.

I was speaking to a journo the other day and circulation is around the 30k mark. Less than a 1/3 of it's glory days.
But I suppose that's the way of the world ?!?
Look at the Green Un! The Star etc

Yeah I don't think those sales are too bad considering in their glory days......

    1) We were either in the premiership or a steady established championship level club not fighting constant relegation battles.
    2) Fan forums weren't popular.
    3) Internet wasn't a big thing.
    4) No social networking to so you didn't have to wait for news.
    5) No Audio Boo.
    6) No Football Heaven.

Etc etc etc etc. In the old days you found out your news once a week in the Chronicle. Now because technology has come so far on people can go without buying the paper.
