........ Steele is not good enough at this level. He makes regular mistakes either with his kicking or with his handling and he is therefore a liability. His shot-stopping is usually very good and I like him for that but when your handling and kicking are naff then you shouldnt be in the Championship. He loses more points than he gains us...

 

Blah blah chuffing blah. support your team stop singling out individuals for blame. Butland came in was no better than Steele.

Butland being in the nets made absolutely no difference to our results. He's a good keeper I like him but also made a few errors. Yeovil. Reading.

He's a great young keeper. But I saw nothing in him whilst with us that told me he was 'currently' far better than Steele.

Potentially? Yes. And I expect big things from him. But his weaknesses seemed to be kicking and commanding his area. Same as Steele. His **** stopping was quality though, like Steele.


And that sums up why I disagree with these posters who suggest Butland was way better than Steele. There's just not evidence to support it.

 

And a quality **** stopper is exactly what we need right now!
