how low can they go to get a story ! http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk...reporter-goes-homeless-and-collects-just-1.22
Was thinking that very same thing Jack. Was to highlight just how miserable and tightfisted the people of Barnsley are? Now I know you are not but the whole exercise seems to have been a complete failure.
Perhaps folk ought to email their local rag and complain, try getting it improved etc? I'm doing exactly that now. The Telegraph and Argus can get ******* ready.....
Looks to be wearing a decent hoodie and trainers. Maybe folk thought he didna need the money. And there was no regulation dog by his side.
True story. I gave an homeless guy a pound on Friday here in Bradford. I was stood outside Nando's waiting for r lass when this scruffy looking bloke approached me and said "I'm not Dynamo, but I reckon I can still impress you" as he revealed a deck of cards. He did a fantastic card trick. Genuinely. I was impressed. He then said "I know it's still begging matey, but at least I do something more than just asking for spare change". I gave him a pound. End of true story.
He had more charisma than Dynamo. Then again, the lead from an HB pencil has more charisma than Dynamo.
Pretty stupid story really, homeless charities tell the public not to give money to beggars as they will likely spend it on drink or drugs, they tell you to give food instead, of course most times they will just throw that away as it's money they want, they're not actually starving.
Saw this the other day, pretty stupid thing to do. What they should have done is stopped anyone gave money further along and explained what was going on. You don't really see homeless people in Barnsley so people don't know how to react, I would imagine a lot of people thought he was just a drug user trying to raise enough money for a fix.
After the Charlton game got called off the other week we ended up in a pub at the side of kings cross over the road from a supermarket...anyway on our way in a tramp asked for some spare change so he could get something to eat which we ignored but as we were walking round there were some sausage rolls half price so I told my younger brother to get them and give them to the tramp. So off he trotted over to the tramp only to receive a barrage of abuse from said tramp because he was a vegetarian and how dare my brother offer him a product with meat in it. My brother is only 13 and thought he was doing somebody a favour and I was pretty pissed off when the same tramp came across ten minutes later to ask for some change again and if that wasn't enough he then wanders round the corner with 4 cans of super strength lager and a burger from mcdonalds not long after. I was glad to get out of London and back to Yorkshire that day I can tell you.....
