Nothing particularly interesting, but I got a freebie in one of the sponsor boxes at Wednesday v Wigan just last week. I was totally impartial, but obviously under the circumstances I was inwardly slightly on the Wigan side. When they scored their first, I just without thinking, laughed out loud. I wouldn't celebrate a Wigan goal, but I didn't expect a little LOL to leave me.

On a summer holiday in Sweden about six years ago I managed to talk Lady West into going to watch an IFK Gothenburg game (think it might have been versus Gefle). Game wasn't particularly exciting, and it p*ssed it down all night, fortunately as there was a ready supply of beer all around the ground we spent the evening getting steadily hammered. Top night.

Sheffield Utd v Aston Villa in the cup in about 2005. Not really as a neutral as I was cheering Villa on.

I also went to watch Espanyol v Real Madrid and a player called Ivan de la Pena ran the show.

Strangest match I ever went to was the Malaysian FA Cup final David Rocastle played and I'd ingested many illegal drugs the night before it was surreal enough anyway but made it even more so.

Pains me to say that I went to the old Belle Vue, but this game ended Doncaster Rovers 4, Mansfield Town 6 in the old third division in the late sixties. Mansfield scored first, which was no surprise as they were doing well in the league and Donny were at the bottom. Amazingly, Watson equalised for Rovers - 1-1. Then Mansfield scored twice either side of half-time - 1-3. The next thirteen minutes belonged solely to ex-Man City striker Trevor Ogden, who scored a hat-trick within that time - 4-3 to Rovers. Mansfield equalised - 4-4. Peter Morris of Mansfield (and later Ipswich) got a free-kick at least sixty yards from goal on the huge Belle Vue pitch (yes, it was in his own half). The ball was intended as one for the forwards to run for, but no one ran and the ball was caught on the wind and driving rain, the 16-year-old keeper, Cromack, came to collect it, but it bounced up, got caught again on the wind and sailed into the empty net - 4-5 Mansfield. The Stags then scored another goal, so it finished 4-6.

Apart from the 13 minutes of Ogden magic, it really was not a very good game, but it was entertaining in that you always thought there was another goal to come.

Sheffield Wednesday 0-5 Everton January '88 FA Cup 3rd round 26th replay or summat.

Between about 85 and 88 there was rarely a Tuesday or Saturday where we didn't go to a game. First choice Barnsley, but if we were away somewhere we didn't fancy going or not playing then we'd watch anyone: Wednesday, dem Blades, dirty Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Donny, Rotherham, anywhere in Yorkshire really.

This was a right laugh. Dunno how many times they'd already drawn the tie, quite a few, all tight games, but in this Everton banged in 5 in the first half. Lee Chapman had been properly clattered and was suffering severe concussion but his manager and physio didn't know. At half time in the dressing room he thought Wednesday were winning.

Huddersfield home to Owls 1966 only went to see Tony Leighton who we had just sold to Huddersfield all I can remember is him running out knees pumping as he always did and wearing a skull cap to protect a jaw injury I think. Of course Wednesday won and went on to lose final to Everton.

The only neutral match I've been to is Bradford V Someone this season. I only went to accompany the kids who are free tickets with school. It was mildly entertaining, can't remember who they played though, so it obviously wasn't that thrilling. It was a cup match.
