So will you be happy to go with his judgment if he starts tonight?

unfortunately is right, it's becoming more and more about running 10 miles a match and less about actual talent. It's creeping in that even forwards who don't actively drop back and mark central midfielders are being phased out.

Toilers? I could understand that phrase being thrown around if we were still starting Perkins, Dawson and O'Brien in midfield, but we aren't.

Last weekend we fielded; Frimpong, a once thought to be premier league prospect; Digby, a young talent that people have been crying to start because of his talent on the ball; Jennings, who we all know has shown great things going forward, and tracking back on occasion, and Woods, who by all accounts looked very good last weekend.

I for one would like to see Paddy start a game, but completely understand the repercussions involved. I'd take the risk tonight, but can understand why Danny would want to make the midfield a bit more 'stable' defensively.

Also RonnieGlavin. Hunter dropped him because he was not a bite your legs. Cyril Regis was unstoppable over 25 yards. None were there for covering the whole pitch but could turn a game in 10 minutes

Yes. I said after the weekend I'd like to see a midfield of Frimpong & Woods in the centre, Jennings wide left & either Paddy or Jim on the right as they both impressed me Saturday.

I thought Paddy's performance against Bolton was embarrassingly bad but Wilson's told him what he expects of him & although he was only on for around 10 minutes Paddy worked both ways so I'd be more than happy to see him get another chance

    This is true.

I remember watching Merson & Le Tissier on Soccer Saturday a while back & they were both saying they'd struggle to get games if they were in their primes now unless they had a higher work rate.

Managers seem obsessed with stats about how many miles players are covering each game

We need to win games and our best option to win games is starting O'Grady, Proschwitz, Jennings and Paddy, simples!

If Paddy is looking disinterested, whip him off and stick J'OB or Cywka on - both of whom are far more effective from the bench this season.

Attack is the best form of defence!

Where are all the Brek Shea supporters, who in a thread I created last week suggested he was better than Paddy? They never gave a reason why he was better, mind. They merely gave a reason not to pick Paddy. That reason was 'work rate'.

Aye, because Shea works his bag off... He's like a quick Rory Fallon sliding up and down the wing. He slides, Paddy glides.

It's all about opinions. But in mine, we're ******* barmy not starting Paddy.

I bet Wigan right wing back Emerson Boyce would rather see Woods or Shea in front of him, than Paddy.

Anyway, it's Jennings' night tonight. Time to right the wrongs he suffered on the opening day.

    2-3 Barnsley.

agree 100% mate said exactly that other day, unreal how peoples minds work.

Shea - Defensive Contribution - Minimal // Creative Contribution - Minimal

Paddy - Defensive Contribution - Minimal // Creative Contribution - Best in squad by a mile

    erm....I'll pick Shea !

Changed my mind. Even Danny isn't that daft. Do you live in Hemsworth?

I can't comment for anyone else but I picked Shea just because I'd not seen enough of him to judge him & wanted to see what he'd got.

Wasn't the question who should start rather than who is better?

If it was who is better then you'd have to say Paddy as I don't think any of us have seen enough of Shea to judge him.

Shea's basically had 2 decent games, 2 poor games & 1 ok game where he spent all game defending due to is having 10 men.

    ^Just This

Best form of defense is attack and in Paddy we have one of the best players in the league going forward with the ball at his feet. But he'll probably get 5 mins tonight!!!
