Does anyone (Arabian Ian or LDRed?) actually know who gets to vote in it? Talking about it today at work and nobody had a clue. Is it: 1). Anyone born in Scotland 2). Anyone living in Scotland (including the Eastern Europeans that make up 10% of the population of Inverness for example) 3). Anyone who rocks up to a polling station? And if they actually vote "yes", does that mean that we are stuck with the bl00dy conservatives at every election until the end of time?
well I will try to answer that I am semi retired now, after spending 32 years with the RAF/MoD as an Aircraft engineer, I am now doing one of our local village Postie rounds. Whenever an Election or a vote that affects us either Nationally or regionally, we (Royal Mail) have to take out to each household on our respective rounds an 'Electoral Registration Form' . It is, apparently, a legal requirement to fill out said form and declare all persons of voting age in that household. This then goes back and the 'authorities' , then they send back a voting form for each member of the household who is legally allowed to vote on whatever matter it may be. Its then up to the individual who has received the voting slip as to whether or not they actually use their vote.
Re: well I will try to answer that I believe it is just like any other election. Anyone on the electoral role at the time. BTW the problem of the currency has been sorted.
Re: well I will try to answer that Cheers - although we can't work out why the sizeable Scottish population that live south of the border don't get a vote in something that effects them - in theory they *could* lose the right to work (when Spain objects to Scotland joining the EU so that Catalan and Basque regions can't do the same). As non-EU citizens they would need work permits
Re: well I will try to answer that I'm English, but I've lived in Scotland for 10 years and I get a vote. The vote is open for all Scottish residence from 16+
