http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-20022014-1371123.aspx 1:04 20th February 2014 On Saturday 15th February nearly 3,000 Barnsley fans travelled to Doncaster Rovers for a South Yorkshire derby to give the team what was truly fantastic support. Unfortunately not everyone represented our Club in a befitting manner and, as a result of the actions of a small minority, the Club has been made subject to a further FA report. A number of smoke canisters were released at the Keepmoat Stadium which resulted in five people being arrested and a further person was arrested for an assault on a steward. Those who were arrested will be subject to a club banning order for the rest of this season and the 2014/15 season. Not only are smoke canisters banned in stadia, but they also cause discomfort for fans, especially those suffering from asthma and this was the case with the latest incident at Doncaster Rovers as a young female Barnsley supporter was taken ill. Everyone connected to the Club wants the support for Barnsley Football Club to be as vibrant, enthusiastic and loud as possible, especially at Oakwell, but those intent on causing trouble do not represent the Club nor the vast majority of supporters who come to watch. Those who wish to cause such disturbances and assaults on others are not the type of supporter we welcome at Oakwell and are using football matches purely as a platform for their anti-social behaviour. For the fourth time this season the Club has been the subject of an FA report. As was highlighted in our previous statement it is very important that, as a Club, supporters and stewards can work together to self-police and prevent these issues continuing to take place. To have policing within Oakwell will greatly escalate our matchday operational costs, which will have a direct implication on our playing budget and ability to invest in the Club, as would any fines issued by the FA due to these incidents. Any individual feedback supporters may have or information on the incidents at the Keepmoat Stadium can be directed to the Club by email to thereds@barnsleyfc.co.uk. No one likes us , no one likes us , we dont care , we are Barnsley , super Barnsley We are Barnsley From Oakwell
Superb statement from the club that - makes it clear as day the effect these idiots have on the club, and the fact that they are doing the club no favours. If there are still apologists for these idiots then, on the basis of the harm they are clearly causing the club, and the further financial harm they could have on the club, I would like to know their rationale for condoning such idiotic behavour.
All I saw were complaints about the handling of the situation by the club and Doyle's. Now they've come out openly, before the event and explained the consequences which is exactly what they should have done before sending the Doyle's in for the Ipswich game.
Tongue and cheek mate Wheres the club statement for the lack of TV's working correctly , seats covered in bird **** and no soap to wash your hands
There were half a dozen posts at the weekend commending the trouble causers mate. These people weren't blaming the stewards, but were encouraging the bad behaviour.
Have a read through this. Top and bottom of the argument - if you're against smoke cannisters you don't want any atmosphere in the ground and everyone should man up a bit. http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?205188-One-of-our-fans-has-let-off-a-smoke-bomb
As well as posts disputing the fact that the smoke caused people with asthma breathing difficulties. A 6 year old girl was frightened, struggling to breath and in tears. The argument was that they are just creating a bit of atmosphere! Well that's ******!
Get thissen in't Ponty, get a smoke canister on't back of yer noggin and get behind em. I can see mayhem coming this Saturday
Yeah. Just try and avoid you! Which isn't hard as you are one of the never presents Are we going to have a better fan comp now?
