Trust Calls on Supporters to Back the Club (from www.bfcst.org.uk) The Supporters Trust would appeal to all Barnsley Supporters to get behind the team on Saturday as we take on Millwall at Oakwell. What we do not want to see is a repeat of the recent events at Oakwell and Doncaster, which is a distraction to the importance of the games coming up. In addition, the actions of a small minority of people are ruining the good name of the vast majority of Barnsley supporters and leading to FA investigations which could eventually cost the football club vital money as we fight to avoid relegation. In addition, the use of pyrotechnics within the ground is illegal and dangerous, with a young 6 year old girl the latest to be affected by the latest incidents at Doncaster, this is not acceptable and cannot be tolerated. We would appeal to these supporters who think that bringing these items into the ground is acceptable to think again, consider the consequences on their fellow supporters as well as Barnsley FC and not to bring them into the ground. We would also encourage Supporters to allow the Stewards to conduct their jobs to reduce any potential problems as was witnessed at the last home game. If supporters have any concerns, they can contact the Supporters Trust at info@bfcst.org.uk and we can discuss with the football club, or alternatively contact the football club directly at thereds@barnsleyfc.co.uk Policing costs at Oakwell are already very high, and any further problems is likely to lead to higher policing costs and a greater police presence within the ground. These additional policing costs may also have an adverse impact on the playing budget. The fan behaviour due to the small minority are now being investigated by the FA for the fourth time this year, and fines related to fan behaviour are also very costly to the football club. We need ALL supporters to get behind the football club on Saturday and support the team in the correct and vocal way that we can as we go to be the 12th man against Millwall in a vital game towards securing our championship status for another year.
Tell ya what if the trust members support the club away at Reading like most the young uns will do then the trust can start telling the real fans what to do until then they can fu'ck off, supporters trust my arse
wow. is "away at reading" the new barometer of a true supporter. i think you owe a few people an apology.
Gally, all well and good but still I don't see any reference to the various complaints supporters on here have made about the behaviour of Doyle's lot in that corner. Have the club received any official complaints?
Colchester stubs still count though bet none of trust know your aloud to follow your team away from home
Any chance of the Supporters Trust asking the club to wipe clean all the bird **** on the seats in the West Lower? In other words, ask them to do their job. Cheers.
Whilst I agree with the sentiment, the problem with this is you are preaching to the choir. Instead, actively engaging with the 'small minority' in stopping some of the incidents mentioned might be more fruitful. And instead of sending in the security, have the police on hand to identify and deal with anyone doing anything illegal. It's not like we all don't know where they will be at 3pm on Saturday is it?
If we do get relegated will all these 'young scally wags' not be welcome next season when the clubs on its arse desperate for all the fans to keep attending wk in wk out? I think not.
So you're suggesting that the 1,000 or so Trust members don't go to away games? Er ok then! You must be the most amazing, bestest fan ever!
Its was discussed at the last Trust Fans Forum meeting I believe but I've had a lot on so I havent finished it yet.
Not every Barnsley fan reads this site so I'm wondering what can be done for this message to reach those involved with the smoke canisters. I honestly don't believe these people know the consequences of their actions. Surely if they realised it will eventually cost the club money they'll stop. Maybe a leaflet handed out in the relevant areas might help.
It's been posted on our Facebook site which has a few thousand followers. We have suggested handing out a flyer on Saturday.
Do the trust have to speak for all of us ? Seems like a Masonic lodge group to me ! Never been a lover cos of Alan Bloore
Yes you are correct. We have suggested engaging with them as you have mentioned. We can only suggest though and aren't party to the clubs plans to resolve this situation so this statement is the best we can do. Ben Mansford has arranged a meeting with ourselves and Andy Nicholson from Doyle security a week today so any suggestions / questions etc that anyone would like to raise then let me know.
