I think it's fine to support the club like I said the idiots need rooting out. But I also think as supporters reps it's important to make a statement equally strongly that the trust would like to see an investigation into the actions, and overall competency of the stewarding as informal and formal complaints have been raised. This does not diminish from the importance of the original statement but strikes a critical balance.
To be fair, when I go to the cinema or the theatre it's inside and there's relatively few seats, I expect in to be clean. Oakwell has a roof, but it's outside really, open to the elements and any wildlife that takes a fancy to it, plus there's 23,000 seats. I'm not saying Mrs Halls doesn't have a point, because he does, the seats should have been cleaned in the last 3 years (more than once), but I don't expect my seat to be spotless every game. I always take summat to give me seat a quick wipe. You can't keep a football stadium up to the same level of cleanliness as a theatre without serious investment in staff to keep it that way. I don't feel less loved by the club because my seat isn't washed.
Cheers for this Gally. To answer your points: 1. I don't know, I assumed that the Trust would take the informal comments on a site like this and raise them. You said you have with the club and that's fine, good to see a meeting is taking place. 2. Cracking news about the support of Jacob. 3. At no point have I said they're angels. Not one point. What I've argued against is both the tactics of the club and Doyle's to deal with 'em. 4. I don't think sitting in your allocated seats is as big a deal as the club are claiming considering every other stand allows unofficial unreserved seating. 5. What are these problems? What have the stewards been abused for? What have the other subjects of the FA reports been? What were the outcomes? The simple point Gally is I think the club have handled the situation badly and I'm hoping after the recent statements we're seeing a change in approach. What was the nicely nicely approach of a long time back? The club need to be open and deal with any issues like this in a transparent way but what I will say is being a **** is very different to breaking any 'ground rules'.
Like I said the other day a bloke came with 2 kids for the Wednesday game took one look at the dirty seats in front of me and went and sat somewhere else. This doesn`t go along with sitting in the seat your given and gives a crap impression to new or supporters who attend occasionally. Maybe we should be provided with a cloth when purchasing a ticket or it should say on the ticket Buyer beware this seat may be covered in **** and grime.
My initial reason for asking about this issue was more to do with explaining why some folk often sit in seats that aren't designated to them. There are 23,000+ seats, yes. But I would wager that the majority are covered/sheltered, and unlikely to incur the wrath of any loose bowelled pigeons. I don't think it's too much to ask that a few of the many employees of BFC do a little cleaning up before a matchday. I really don't. We have plenty of highly paid footballers who don't get a game, and lots of youth players. Send them round with a bucket and cloth every Monday/Friday afternoon. Job done. I guarantee (in fact, I know first hand) that the players lounge for example is spotless pre-match. I'm guessing it's clean in the executive suites as well? So I don't think (considering I pay out of my arse for the privilege these days) I'm asking too much. But I agree, it's never going to be perfect/spotless, and I don't feel any less loved by the club. I just think things like this are ******* simply achievable to a decent standard. After all, I've spent much of the last few years working in food production, these places run 24 hours, yet they're kept spotless. Because jobs depend on it. I'm just having a moan, to be honest. At the club, no particular individual. Because I can.
23,000 seats - 2,000 seats cordoned off in the west stand = 21,000 seats. Skip the away end and you're down to 15,000 seats. How any of those would need cleaning at any particular check? 10%? 1,500 seats to wipe a spot off Day's work for someone is that
Surely someone already walks around the stands picking litter up, they could easily carry a pack of cloths, quick scan of the seats as they go. I'll bet it's no more than a couple of hundred that would need a wipe. However, I don't think it's that much of an issue, the solution is to take a tissue. Bit of poetry there.
Still bird **** on seats today. You only mentioned it to them the other day so fair enough. Hopefully though two weeks is long enough to give them a wipe before our next home game.
Fking hell Would you moan for twenty years or just take a wipe with you and clean it yourself pfffff The good old 'council should sort it' attitude that certain locals have Keep on scowling xx
