Re: should qualify from that Draws in Slovenia and Switzerland. Win the rest. Wouldn't mind a trip to Ljubljana.
Re: should qualify from that Shouldn't be any problems. think it well give Roy the ability to play the best players available against a couple of teams but also play a few of the younger players against the likes of San Marino Lithuania. Rooney's got to fancy closing in on 50 against them teams though.
Re: should qualify from that Ha Ha yeah I agree but that is where England's problems start. Over confidence. Had your problems with San Marino before.
not easy for your lot but I reckon Wales and Northern Ireland will be fairly happy with their groups.
Re: not easy for your lot I hope all home nations qualify, would be brilliant to see us all over there, looking unlikely though.
Re: not easy for your lot Think Wales have a chance wil a bit of luck and keeping there best players on the pitch There midfield should be good enough to battle with any team in that group and even be better than them.
Re: should qualify from that Hmm, if you're referring to the infamous goal in qualification for the 1994 world cup in the USA I wouldn't really call a 7-1 victory a problem. We've played San Marino four times (6-0, 7-1, 5-0, 8-0) where as Scotland have genuinely struggled to beat them on three separate occasions winning just 2-0.
Re: should qualify from that Except 7-1 was a problem. We needed a 7 goal win and Holland to slip up to qualify, we got neither but that goal could so easily have proved very costly.
Switzerland were in pot 2, meaning they 'should' be the hardest team in the group. They drew with Cyprus in their world cup qualifying group. And although they only conceeded 6 goals, 4 were against Iceland (4-4 draw). They beat Slovenia twice in that world cup qualifying group, the next easiest draw in the group. Who only finished 3rd in what was the softest world cup qualifying group, behind Iceland and the Swiss. Estonia and Lithuania were in much harder groups, but their only wins came against Andorra, Liechtenstein and Latvia. And San Marino need no introductions, after we put 13 goals past them last year. I'd be surprised if we drop more than 4 points.
Have we? It was 7-1 if you are talking about the 7s goal qualification game, it was the rest of the group that we struggled with.
I think it's the perfect group for us to initiate the rebuild. Once we're eliminated from Brazil (some time before the quarter finals), we can fill the England squad with kids. Give them a full qualifying campaign, much like Germany did a few years ago. I'm talking about the likes of Stones, Shaw, Ward-Prowse, Barkley, Sterling, Berahino etc. That's my idea anyway. But I fully expect the usual mob who'll let us down in Brazil to still be picked for the Euro qualifiers.
Re: should qualify from that Hodgson will be stepping down after the World cup, everyone in football knows that. Or before, if I had my way. That group shouldn't give us any problems on paper. But the Swiss have always given us trouble and Slovenia are not to be under-estimated and are probably on a level with the awful current England side. The worst I've ever seen.
